Jason Quick Thinks Minnesota Just Posturing About Batum Offer

Jason Quick doesn't seem to think Minnesota is serious about the reported $45M+ offer to Batum.

In the last couple days he's tweeted:

Prediction: Batum never signs offer sheet from Minnesota

About my Batum prediction: Minnesota doesnt want to put all its eggs in a basket. By time Pdx matches, rest of FA could be gone.

My read is Minny offer is just posturing to scare PDX into sign-and-trade. Come July 11 wouldnt surprise if Minny goes "different direction"

It wouldn't surprise me if Quick is right this time. The only stories I have seen about Batum's supposed $45M+ offer seem to have originated from his agent as reported by Jon Krawczynski, an AP writer. For instance, the ESPN story quotes the AP story, and so forth. Every story about "the offer" says reportedly or according to the Associated Press.

Has anyone seen an independent article that quotes sources "close to the T-Wolves" about this contract offer?

There's no question Minnesota would like to get Batum, on a sign and trade. But if the Blazers refuse to do a sign and trade, why would the Wolves make an offer the Blazers say they will match and tie up their money for 3 days? I've always thought that made no sense unless they have no other free agent opportunities to chase. I suppose it could be argued that Batum quit talking to other teams because he is sure there will be a Minnesota offer. But given his agent's inexperience maybe Minnesota is just manipulating them.

Do you think Quick is correct?
