Larry has long been a bit of a controversial figure--the past few years of his tenure were marked by quite a bit of disappointment for Blazer fans, and more than a lot of organizational instability. OTOH, the team of "president", especially divorced from the operations side, puts a target on your back.
I don't' want to damn Miller with faint praise in an "appreciation thread", but he is leaving the team in better shape than any of this predecessors in the president's post. Unlike Steve Patterson and Bob Whitsittt, Miller didn't conduct any pointless wars with the media, terrorize the hard-working folk in the Trail Blazer offices, or otherwise make a complete ass of himself. When PA went off the reservation over the past two years--for whatever reason--Miller was left holding the mop and bucket.
While I don't expect parades to be held in Miller's honor, I think it's at least somewhat fair to say that Miller has had to preside over a whole bunch of stuff that wasn't in the job description, and over a whole bunch of really awful luck.
Good luck, Larry.
