He was owed $3.1 million next season & joins free agent pool ---------------------------- Williams picked up his $3.1 million player option back in June after being acquired by the Blazers in the March trade that sent forward Gerald Wallace to the New Jersey Nets. In the days after the trade, it was reported that the Blazers would seek a buyout but Williams, who was dealing with a foot injury, consistently maintained that he would pick up his player option.
