Why is everyone so glass half empty... I dont understand the people who feel this team wouldnt be capable of a playoff run if we land hibbert and re-sign batum?! Yes we are about to over pay Batum but the kid is only 23 and has shown no signs that he cant or wont continue to get better. Hibbert with LA would be a huge upgrade to any of our previous combinations of LA and JJ, LA and Pryz or LA and Kurt! As for our PG situation I feel that anything is better than Homer Simpson AKA Felton, even if it is a rookie from weber state. The combination of Lillard and some sort of Vet will be way better than dealing with fatso. As for our 2 guard I dont think Matthews is a starter in the NBA but he can be a capable 6th man, and with two big potential guys in Ewill and Barton im ok with the combination.
So my thinking is that if a 2 deep lineup of Felton/smith, Matthews/Ewill, Wallace(1st half) Batum(2nd half)/Batum(1st half)Babbitt(2nd half), Aldridge/Thomas and Camby/Hickson(2nd half) is in the hunt for a playoff spot then the fallowing lineup must be a playoff lock right?
Matthews/Ewill or Barton
Aldridge/Thomas or Leonard
If we get a capable vet pg and one of either Ewill or barton can meet some expectations and babbitt keeps hitting 3s and leonard can play some defense then its not a terrible bench....
My point being this team with the above lineup could and would land in the 6th-8th playoff spot and by this time next year u could feasibly pull off a trade for a better starting 2 guard which would make this team a 2nd round lock... buck up folks if this offseason works out everyone will be happy by this time next year and we will know for sure in 8 days so take a deep breath and say 10 hail marys
