Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports that the New York Knicks are now the favorites to land Portland Trail Blazers unrestricted free agent point guard Raymond Felton and are possibly interested in sign-and-trades. ----------------------------- The Knicks are favorites to sign Raymond Felton, a source close to the free agent point guard told the Daily News. Having lost out on their primary free agent target Steve Nash and with Jeremy Lin possibly signing an offer sheet with the Houston Rockets, the Knicks are committed to adding Felton, who finished last season with Portland. The Knicks may be willing to acquire Felton in a sign-and-trade as a way to hold on to their $3 million mini-mid level exception to use on another free agent. A trade for Felton would likely include Toney Douglas. ----------------------------- Earlier this week, the Phoenix Suns expressed interest in Felton but instead opted for an agreement with free agent point guard Goran Dragic. Both the Knicks and the Suns were on a list Felton put out two weeks ago, along with the Brooklyn Nets and the Blazers. The Nets went a different direction, re-signing unrestricted free agent guard Deron Williams to a 5-year max contract. On Tuesday, it was reported that Felton was on New York's radar. Felton, 28, averaged 11.4 points, 6.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals during the 2011-12 season, his first and only with the Blazers. Update: Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports that the Knicks have agreed to sign Dallas Mavericks unrestricted free agent point guard Jason Kidd, which could obviously put their pursuit of Felton into question. ed: text edited, bumped to front page
