29

The Associated Press reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in former Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy. --------------------------------- A person familiar with the situation tells the Associated Press that the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in free agent guard Brandon Roy, who is attempting a comeback. The Cavs have not yet set up a visit with Roy, said the person who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the sides are only in preliminary discussions. --------------------------------- It was reported on Saturday that Roy had these five suitors: Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves. Roy has reportedly met with both the Timberwolves (according to Darren Wolfson of ESPN1500.com here) and the Warriors (according to Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group here) so far during the July Free Agency moratorium. The Blazers released Roy using the Amnesty Clause back in December 2011. Roy cannot re-join the Blazers until July 2015. Roy is an unrestricted free agent after clearing the amnesty bidding process. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
