Kaleb Canales and the Tough Coaching Decisions?

We all know that the Blazer players all love Kaleb Canales. He is a tireless worker, teaches and instructs with respect, and seems to know the Xs and the Os. What happens next year when two of the following scenarios might take place:

1) Elliot Wiliams is ready to be the starter at SG. Sure Wes Mathews loves Kaleb right now but as we saw last season he has somewhat limited skills for a starting NBA SG. Elliot Williams has much more natural talent than Mathews and at some point next season barring injury will be pushing for a starting position. He may even warrant a staring position after training camp. At some point next season Will Barton may be a better backup at SG than Matthews. Can Kaleb Canales make the tough decisions about who the starters should be? I don't have the full confidence in him to do so right now.

2) Time for Luke Babbit to go back to his natural position---12th to 15th man on the bench. Babbit got a lot of minutes at the end of last season. As soon as Kaleb took over he gave Babbit more minutes and said that was because, " he had earned them." After the summer league it is obvious that Babbit can't guard SGs, SFs or PFs. His rebounding is weak for a back up PF. And who would you rather have backing up Aldrige --- Babbitt or Hickson? Both Will Barton and Victor Claver should be pushing for back up minutes at SF. Babbit doesn't look to be better than either of them to back up Batum. At some point in the future Barton might even become a starter at SG. Can Kaleb Canales bench one of his favorite players and place him into a non playing scrub role? I have serious doubts about his ability to do this.

In conclusion I am thinking more and more that it would be better to have a new head coach, without the personal attachments that Kaleb Canales has to the current players on the Blazers roster.
