We have all heard the rumors. He is crazy (how crazy? Ron Artest, er I mean World Peace crazy?). He isn't all there (like Stephon "I eat vasoline" Marbury?). He is a bad teammate (did he sleep with the superstars mom, Delonte?).
But where did this all come from? Have you ever heard of a player say that Rashad is a bad teammate? Have you ever heard a story or read an article about Rashad getting arrested? Have you ever witnessed him doing something crazy on youtube?
So why is he not in the league?
Lets back up. 2005 HE wins UNC a championship and is prolly the reason some of those young cats choose to go to UNC over the years. He greats drafted (14th I think) and is hampered by a few injuries. He then gets traded during the middle of his last season (2009) to Sacramento from Minnesota. He avgs 10 pts and 4 assists in 20 min the rest of the season (with a few 30 pt games). Sac makes qualifying offer and then rescinds it a few days later.
So why is this guy cancer? He is one of the few players that has the athletic build closest to Lebron. He can still shoot lights out and physically get to the spot on the floor he needs to (this is witnessed first hand at several NBA closed workout sessions with current nba players). In fact, in one workout a current nba guy on a current nba roster was humiliated and it was the first time i have ever witnessed teammates actually feel bad for a player playing against a workout potential.
So the question remains? Why not Rashad? You are practically guaranteed 15pts from this guy a game and the ability to man up against other SG's in the league.
Was it previous owners? Maybe, but what owner wouldn't want to stick it to another team (like Minnesota or Houston for us :) by signing this guy and giving him a shot.
In a season where its obvious we are going for rebuild and we have no "clear" direction (or leader) why doesn't a team give him a chance? what do you have to lose?
