Summer League is very hard to judge by, granted. (Jerryd Bayless, anyone? Landry Fields?)
Nevertheless, in two years this could be the Blazers' starting lineup:
1 - Damien Lillard
2 - Wil Barton
3 - Nicolas Batum
5 - Meyers Leonard.
Add in Wesley Matthews off the bench, maybe Hickson is he proves his worth this season, plus a possible lottery pick from the upcoming season, plus whoever of Freeland/Claver/Williams/Babbitt who develops positively in the meantime, and I don't think this looks like a bad team at all, and if all goes well, possibly great (knock on wood). Young (except for Aldridge, all these guys will be in their mid-20s at the most!), quick, athletic, and with multiple scoring options. Overall defense could be an issue, but with the right coach to make that a focus it could be overcome.
In short, I feel like the team made exactly the right picks to fit with what they already had, and even thought this next season might be rough, I am excited for the future.
