Nolan Smith - PG or 6th man combo?

Stay connected for news and updates

Hey all - after seeing Nolan Smith in the two pre-season games, I remembered why I was excited when we drafted him two years ago out of Duke. Confident, quick to the edge, scoring.

Although he is undersized as a 2 he reminds me a lot of Jason Terry in his makeup; a more athletic Eddie House and less defensive-minded Tony Delk.

I wondered after watching him play last year whether he can contribute from the point at all.

IMO - he is better suited as a 6th man or bench scorer. I have again seen this in the two SL games. He is fast, aggressive and offensive-minded. Perhaps, Nate had him thinking point too much and under a different coach he could thrive.

With this assertion comes a problem logjam at the 2 and a necessity at the point to help young Lillard.

I really believe the Blazers will do him a disservice if they keep trying to force this square peg into a round hole!
