First time FanPost... Here goes
I've been reading a lot of FanPosts lately, and it seems to me that Brian Shaw is a popular candidate for the Head Coaching job. Also, I, and probably you as well, have heard that Phil Jackson is a possibility for the President position that's available. My idea is why not just make it a triangle, PJ's specialty, and bring in Derek Fisher as a savvy vet PG.
I understand that we hate the L@kers and that Derek Fisher's old, but I believe that if we sign him to a 1 year/3 million contract, we can preserve cap space for next summer and also provide our "Franchise PG" another mentor. Also, Brian Shaw is from the same city as Lillard (Oakland) and they're very close. Think about it, B-Shaw and D-Fish as mentors to Damian...
One more note on the cap space for next summer, I realize that we might not have more that 7 or 8 million, but that's still enough to grab a solid veteran 5 to help teach Leonard. Here's a list of Centers that may be free agents in 2013
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic – $19.5 million – Unrestricted
Andrew Bynum, L.A. Lakers – $16.1 million – Unrestricted
DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings – $3.9 million – Team Option ($4.9 million)
Greg Monroe, Detroit Pistons – $3.2 million – Team Option ($4.1 million)
Samuel Dalembert, Houston Rockets – $6.7 million – Unrestricted
Nikola Pekovic, Minnesota Timberwolves – $4.8 million – Unrestricted*
Nikola Vucevic, Philadelphia 76ers – $1.7 million – Team Option ($1.8 million)
Ekpe Udoh, Milwaukee Bucks – $3.5 million – Team Option ($4.5 million)
Emeka Okafor, New Orleans Hornets – $13.5 million – Early Termination Option ($14.5 million)
Andris Biedrins, Golden State Warriors – $9.0 million – Early Termination Option ($9.0 million)
Tiago Splitter, San Antonio Spurs – $3.9 million – Unrestricted*
Enes Kanter, Utah Jazz – $4.3 million – Team Option ($4.5 million)
I realize that we have no shot at pairing Dwight Howard with his white brother, but there are some veterans that can start for us while also giving Myers room to grow and develop. The names I like are: Dalembert, Okafor, Beidrins, and Pachulia.
