If we really do a S&T with Minnesota before Wednesday do we really need a 2-3 to take his role on this team? We have Wesley Matthews and have just brought in Victor Claver, who by all accounts is a similar player on offense, but lacks the shot blocking ability? Why else did we bring him over now? I have to think Olshey was planning something in advance.
Would we ship Batum to Minny for Ridnour and picks or for Williams and picks. Ridnour seems to make more sense as he can actually produce on the NBA level as a point guard and right now we have not this role player on our team.
I am not stating he is the future but do you really want Nolan Smith backing up a rookie?
If we got Williams (makes most sense from the Minny side) would we send him on for a player like say Iggy or Deng who could give us some wing experience and high level production? Could this be Olshey's thinking?
Or - could Neil Olshey be thinking complete re-build if we let Batum walk for any reason? We would have an overloaded front court in the 4-5 but week in the pure 5 and the point?
My gut tells me NO is going to see what the final offer is and if it is not Peckovich (pure 5) and picks he says no and re-signs Batum. I just do not believe we can win if Williams is the trade player. It has to be Ridnour or Pek and picks - just makes too much sense...unless we are blowing the whole thing up.
Agree? If not, what options do you all see?
