It seems as though no one can come up with a tenable solution at center for the Trailblazers this coming season. If Olshey were to stand pat we would have Leonard a rookie, Kurt Thomas with his walker, and a combo of Joel Freeland and LA manning the 5 during small ball time.
Let us assume Olshey brings back Pryz as well, this gives us three centers with different values which will not command shots but have tremendous ability in team leadership, screening, offensive rebounding and added athleticism with Myers Leonard.
Can we live with this? Can this team make the playoffs with the current roster? Would any availble centers be an advantage given the stable presence they bring?
I have pondered the oft mentioned JaVale McGee and Brendan Haywood - mmmm NO!
I had head that Olshey was real high on Asick currently on the Bulls - this would require a trade - a move he might make if available.
Since so few options are available, I am left to think that notwithstanding Robin Lopez, there is not another young option which keeps the type of long-term approach at the forefront.
My gut feeling says NO tries to land Asick or Lopez in Stumptown. I would be pissed at any stop gap one year thing with McGee, but would not mind if JP and KT were here just to mentor young Leonard.
What do you all think?
