The Portland Trail Blazers announced on Wednesday that forward Shawne Williams has officially been waived.
Last week, it was reproted that the Blazers agreed to a buy out with Williams.
Williams picked up his $3.1 million player option back in June after being acquired by the Blazers in the March trade that sent forward Gerald Wallace to the New Jersey Nets. In the days after the trade, it was reported that the Blazers would seek a buyout but Williams, who was dealing with a foot injury, consistently maintained that he would pick up his player option.
Williams, 26, never suited up for the Blazers last season bu averaged 4.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game in 25 appearances for the Nets prior to the trade.
