I am not sold what so ever with Freeland and Claver. It's nothing against guys who play in Europe it's just that most of them are soft and can't handle the physical play that the NBA is known before. I admit that I have only seen them play maybe 3-4 times but I was not impressed at all. Freeland shows flashes but I would leave Claver over seas.
The Blazers were willing to give a max deal to Hibbert who averaged a career HIGH of 13 and 8 with a couple of blocks. I know that Centers have more value and I would have loved for Hibbert to sign with us but Humphries put up 14pts, 11rebounds and a block a game. Humphries likes to bang down low where LA does not.
While Humphries is restricted and the Nets can match anything he signs they have to be running short on cap space. They have Williams and Johnson who will get about 40 mill plus Wallace at another 10 and now they are getting ready to give Brook Lopez a max deal. I know their owner has very deep pockets but come on. By signing Humphries he can either start or come off the bench depending on if the Blazers decide what to do with Freeland or make a run at Kaman. Humphries is no where near a max player and he knows it. All he says that he wants is security in a 4 year deal and he deserves it.
Portland has to make a move for a BIG and I know that Olshey has already said that they would not make any moves regarding free agents but this franchise can't go into another rebuild or LA is going to start acting like Dwight Howard. There are still players out there the Blazers can target like a Jose Calderon who the Raptors have been trying to trade since last year. I think he only has a 1year left on his deal and with the Raptors getting Lowry they will probably just pay him to go away. If the team starts the season with two rookies at PG and C, Portland will be in the lottery..........................AGAIN!
