Many Blazer fans want or expect Portland to acquire another draft pick for Jamal Crawford if he is traded. I suggest otherwise. Consider the following:
Fact #1: Minnesota pursued Crawford as a free agenct last year and it has been reported by CSNNW that they are again pursuing him intensely via trade.
Speculation: Jamal Crawford could fit as Minnesota's starting SG given their lack of talent at that position. A starting position in addition to close proximity to the northwest and playing with NW natives Martell Webster and Kevin Love could be enough to entice Crawford to opt in to the last year of his deal.
Fact #2: Portland currently has 1 PG on their roster, Nolan Smith.
Speculation: Even if Portland drafts and/or signs a starting PG in free agency, the team needs a veteran back up point guard as it's unlikely that Smith can fill that role right away as he struggled in his rookie year even when given significant playing time.
Fact #3: Luke Ridnour has reportedly been a trade target of the Blazers in the past and has said he would love to play for his hometown team.
Speculation: Luke would be a solid backup PG that wouldn't tank the team as a fill-in starter and whose personality and background would likely be a good fit in Portland.
