Hornets Will Match Offer For Gordon, Even If It Means A Max Contract
"New Orleans appears ready to match any offer Gordon might get on the open market, even if means extending him a maximum-money contract of five years worth $80 million, league sources said. The Hornets’ current payroll is $38.3 million, one of the lowest in the league before the free-agency signing period begins July 11. Possible targets are former Hornets guard Willie Green; Charlotte Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin; Chicago Bulls restricted free-agent center Omer Asik; Denver restricted free agent Rudy Fernandez; and Houston Rockets unrestricted free-agent guard Goran Dragic. The Hornets also could make a push to re-sign power forward Carl Landry, center Chris Kaman or shooting guard Marco Belinelli, though it appears Kaman is not likely to be pursued by the Hornets."
