We need a coach. There are several methods for going out and getting an NBA coach. Scan the ranks of assistants for that up-and-comer, the defensive specialist from GS, the former Lakers guy from Indiana, etc. Pull an old warhorse from behind the microphone to put his money where his mouth is. Grab a recently jilted former head coach on the rebound. Or step in when a franchise fumbles the process of giving their coach an extension. We did that with Mr. Sonic back in the day -- maybe a chance to continue the tradition and hire Scott Brooks away from OKC? Sounds like the Thunder are lowballing him, at least in terms of contract length. Might as well exert the advantage of a deep-pockets owner in one area where there are no caps and taxes -- offer him a 5 year 30 million dollar contract, and see what happens. That would be solid, IMO, and be extra fun due to the grief that would be inflicted on that franchise.
