Tony Wroten Talks Brandon Roy

50

University of Washington guard Tony Wroten was one of six players that worked out for the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. He offered the following thoughts on former Blazers guard Brandon Roy, who he considers a "mentor" and with whom he has worked out this summer in preparation for the 2012 NBA Draft. ---------------------------------- Like the Blazers? "Growing up, loved them. Brandon Roy went here, Jamal Crawford, great mentors of mine. I love Portland. If I was blessed enough to be drafted by Portland it would be a dream come true." What's up with Brandon Roy? "I've been working out with Brandon back home this offseason. You wouldn't tell he hurt his knee. He's back like his old self, maybe better." Last time you saw him? "About two weeks ago. Back home. He's in great shape, can't wait to come back... He goes at his own pace, he's not going to change his game because somebody else is guarding him. He sticks to himself, gets to his spots... It's just a matter of time before he's back to his old self. Taking the last shots." ---------------------------------- Once considered a potential Lottery prospect, Wroten is now projected to go in the second round. One major flaw is his jumper. As soon as the workout was opened to the media, Wroten went 0-for-5 on uncontested three-pointers, including one airball. "It is what is," Wroten said. "People will say my stock is dropping... I ain't worried about none of that. I just play my game." -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
