Prospect: AJB2
Ht. 6'3
Wt. 175
Positions:
Current: SF/PF
NBA Possible: PG/SG
School: Portland Community College
NBA Comparison: Ha Seung-Jin meets Smush Parker
Height w/shoes: 6'2.75"
Bench Press: 1
No Step Vertical: 10 inches
Strengths:
A solid long-range shooter when open... Can post up smaller players (although there are only like two in the NBA)... High motor on the offensive glass... Hits high percentage of practice free throws. Averaged a double-double in rec league competition.... Not afraid to vocally encourage good team defense (although the subsequent score by his man often mitigates this).... A solid man-to-man and weakside defender when his matchup absolutely sucks at offense. ... Not afraid to lead the fastbreak off the rebound... Can get in the "Zone" (but that usually leads to him being a ball-hog and then proceeding to drop right out of the "Zone" while continuing to chuck ill-advised shots)...
Weaknesses:
Completely lacks athleticism... Experience and level of competition a concern, as AJB2 enters the draft straight from rec-league competition... None of above strengths translate to NBA... About 90 pounds and six inches too small to play his natural position of power forward... Low release does not allow him to get shot off when defended... Utterly lacks guard skills... Has trouble guarding faster opponents, which is all of them... Has trouble guarding bigger opponents, which is almost all of them... Left hand is practically useless... Still needs to add (A LOT) of strength to his frame... Little to no mid-range game... Weak defender, with little room for improvement... Turned the ball over on 25% of fastbreaks... Missed layups on 25% of fastbreaks... And many more...
What do you think? Should Portland be targeting AJB2 in this important draft? Can we afford to miss out on a prospect like him?
