McCallum: After Resigning, D'Antoni Didn't Watch Knicks Kill Blazers

6
Back in March, New York Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni resigned and his team went on to destroy the Portland Trail Blazers, 121-79, in what was one of the low points of Portland's season. In his first extended interview since parting with the Knicks, D'Antoni tells Jack McCallum of SI.com that he didn't catch the blowout win because the decision to resign was too emotional. ----------------------------------------- SI.com: Did you watch the game that night [a 121-79 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers]? M.D.: No. I got into my pajamas and didn't get out of them for a month. You know those people who deliver the food from Meals on Wheels? They were the only ones who saw me. SI.com: Nice to see you haven't lost your sense of humor. M.D.: Who says I'm kidding? Seriously, resigning hurt. It hurt a lot. It still does. ----------------------------------------- The Blazers fired coach Nate McMillan the following day. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
