It has been reported that the Portland Trailblazers, in an unprecedented move, initiated a league wide conference call with every NBA team last night asking permission to speak with any current GM or AGM who may be even remotely interested in their GM vacancy.
Team President Larry Miller was quoted as saying “While we have a strong list of candidates that are very interested in this position, in our minds, none of them have actually contacted us confirming said interest.”
Miller went on to say “It is important this candidate have a clear vision of the direction they want to take this team, the ability to effectively communicate with ownership, and an ounce - I mean an ounce - of basketball managerial knowledge. That is something we, as an organization, are in dire need of. We need to get us some of that.”
