The Real Culprit for Point/Shooting Guard Woe's under Nate

So, I'm gonna start this by saying I'm not a big Felton hater, but I also don't love him. I watched him and knew what we were getting, but I am a little surprised by his play at times... This condensed year as seemed to bring out the worst in many average/good players. But that is not the excuse I am going to use Felton. Nor is it the one I am going to use for Wesley (excluding the last 10 games), Crawford (God, I really don't wanna make any excuse for him), or past players such as Rudy, Webster, Bayless, etc.

The Blazers have had many issues that have kept them from getting over the hurdle the last few years, and with the departure of Roy it has become all that more obvious. Every year it has been something else. 3 Pt shooting, defensive rebounding, PG play, lack of offensive creativity, lack of fast break, yada yada....But there has been one thing that has been consistently non-existent (except for like 40 games over 4 years) and that is a Center that has an offensive game. I love, errr, loved Camby, I like Pryzbilla, Juwan Howard was Will Smith-esque, nice guy, but come on folks. Lets be real here. Besides a few short stints from Greg Oden, we have had a Center down in the post who has less offensive moves than Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace. This is putting one foot in the grave when you have a stretch 4 like Aldridge...While he is hanging out on the elbow, our Center is in la la land. It hurts our rebounding, ability to get to the line and draw fouls, and most importantly hinders the ability of the players on the perimeter. When you have Aldridge and even our Center at times hanging out so close to the perimeter it basically gives them an extra defender to guard the perimeter...essentially 4 on 3. Where is my proof? Look no further than Rudy's hideous numbers his last year, Felton's awful FG%, Crawford's shockingly herrendous FG and 3 PT%'s, Wes's slow start, Webster draft fail...

Since JJ Hickson has been acquired, does anyone notice the 3 PT shooting now? Wesley and Batum getting clean looks. Babbitt and Felton getting wide open looks. It is no mystery, it is why a dominant post player OR the combination of 2 effective post players is the most important asset for any team in this shooters league we now call the NBA. Hickson and Aldridge works for now, but if I was GM I would put all my eggs in one basket....getting a legit Center, because if we don't do that , the talents of Wes, Elliott, Babbitt, Felton (if he stays) will go to waste, and even Batum's will be hindered. PG's create plays for teammates when they have the ball in their hands....Centers create plays for teammates anytime their butt is cemented down in the paint spacing the floor for their colleagues. Gotta happen. Bring over Freeland, draft Drummond, trade for Hibbert, Spencer Hawes, Chris Kaman. Someone. Anyone.
