Murray: Luke Babbitt "Chuckled" At SportsCenter's Baby Clip

Back in March, Portland Trail Blazers forward Luke Babbitt was portrayed as a baby during an ESPN SportsCenter highlight tape. In the clip, Babbitt was wearing a diaper and bonnet as he had the basketball -- made to look like candy -- stolen from him while he was lying on the court. In a Reno Gazette-Journal article, Chris Murray writes that Babbitt didn't take offense to the toddler treatment. ------------------------------------ Babbitt, who said he got a chuckle at the SportsCenter clip, has proven over the past couple of weeks he’s a legitimate NBA player. ... "I don’t pay much attention to that stuff," Babbitt said. "I didn’t pay attention when people said, ‘This guy (stinks),’ and I’m not paying attention to whatever they’re saying right now." ... "When I first got drafted, it was a great feeling," said Babbitt, the No. 16 pick in the 2010 draft. "But a few days after getting drafted, I was over it and I wanted to be a contributor. I wasn’t happy just being in the NBA last year. I want to be a major contributor. I want to have a long career. It’s definitely a nice feeling knowing I’m contributing now." ------------------------------------ On Tuesday, Matt Calkins of The Columbian crowdsourced some nicknames for Babbitt. I caught up with Babbitt about his recent career night against the New Orleans Hornets here. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
