In all the hubbub of yesterday, this might have been lost

Apparently Jeff Bower is interested in the GM position for Portland. If you recall, he was the guy in charge in New Orleans when they first started thinking about trading Chris Paul.....To Portland. He built a pretty great team, both through the draft and through trades. He and his front office drafted Chris Paul, David West, and Darren Collison, so in that regard he is somewhat proven. He also helped to initiate Monty Williams being hired, but I do believe he was let go before it was official...or according to Chris Haynes, he "resigned."

Personally, I like this idea. I thought he was very underrated as a GM, and I think it would be a smart move for Portland. The guy knows how to build a competitive team around a star, and really the only reason they struggled under him was due to injuries.

For the conspiracy theorists out there, he's also well versed in working for an owner that was motivated to sell the team. Will that be a factor? I don't know, and it really shouldn't be. I would be interested to see what kind of coach he would want to hire. Is he the kind of guy that can land us a Rick Carlisle or Stan Van Gundy? He's got street cred, and that counts for a lot in this league.
