This season started off with such promise at 7-2. We were the talk of the NBA. We ourselves who just lost Brandon Roy and thinking "what now?", were at this point, at 7-2, thinking with the addition of Jamal Crawford, Craig Smith, and Kurt Thomas, that we could be serious contenders. This reinvigorated Blazer spirit.
But the shoe fell off the other foot. The team fell apart. And the obvious had to be done. Changes. A year after Rich Cho said we would need to, ironically.
With Gerald Wallace gone, along with Marcus Camby and still no GM, and lastly, a fired Nate McMIllan, we were again, "what now?".
But despite all of this, we the fans have much to look forward to, in this upcoming off-season. A possible new GM, possible new coach, deep cap space, and two potential lottery first round picks. WOO HOO.
Then last week, out of nowhere, we picked up JJ Hickson, off waivers, who flamed out in Sactown.
Well if Hickson is auditioning, I think WE ARE BUYING.
I think I may be MORE stoked with this acquisition already, then I was when we picked up Wallace, a year ago. The potential knock may be "can he play back up to LaMarcus Aldridge?"
If the RIGHT Coach can come in and have him be a very eligible sixth man? He could very possibly win that award, as well. And you know, as well as I, that a good second team is NECESSARY. We haven't had a good second team since 2000. That team had a second unit that could have been a starting five on any other team.
I am stoked for next season and I wonder what your opinions are on Hickson.
Rock on Blazer fans and let's hope for a bright future.
