Management stated this isn't a rebuild, it's a "remodel." Just wanted to take a look at where we are in the rotation, in terms of looking at the early stages of the project, through the frame of a "remodel."
Seems to be going pretty darn good in my opinion. Most of the rotation for next year seems to be filling out, if the rational for occupying those rotation spots is based on those who have earned it this year. There will likely be disagreement, but for the most part I see LA, Batum, Elliot Williams, Matthews, Hickson, and Babbitt. That's six out a 9 to 10 man rotation.
Two more contenders with Prysbilla and Flynn. Would be suprised if the Vanilla Guerrilla doesn't have a rotation spot. Flynn is a little iffier. Will have to wait and see the rest of the season, but thus far his penchant for looking for teammates is encouraging when looking at a backup pg role.
Babbit's emergence is a small window, but I put him in here for a couple reasons. One they resigned him already. Two I believe a big component of a shooters development is the trust his teammates have in him, and that trust takes quite awhile, maybe years to develop. My hope is that Babbitt is establishing that trust with his teammates. Most Blazer fans are probably like me in that they have some PTSD around Elliot William's injury. I don't have much of a stomach for watching exceptionally talented Blazers go under the knife multiple times early in their careers. Praying he breaks that string and pushes Matthews for minutes as the season goes on next year. Hickson. Wow! So much to say on Hickson, but please bring him back next year is the first thing that come to mind. Love the way him and LA play together. I think the last couple of games (before the Clipper game) I could litterally see the weight of the world being lifted from LA's shoulders. Hope that Hickson remains consistent throughout the rest of the season.
That's 6 to 8 of a 9 or 10 man rotation. The hand in 5 card draw that only asks for one or two cards in return is usually the most the dangerous. I see this as pretty good progress in such a short period of time.
