OK, I know I am stirring the hornets nest here, but it is time to have the discussion
Ray sucked in the early part of the season and was out of shape and made some boneheaded plays, albeit some were due to the recipient of the pass, not the passer. However, from the All star break till D-Day, he had the best plus/minus on the team (even if he sucked, the team still played better with him out there on average) and since the Nate firing, he is putting up numbers on par for tthe rest of his career. For march (realizing a bad start to the month) shotting 43% FG, 33% from 3, 6Assists and 12.7ppg. I am unaware of any PG on the blazers who did well under Nate (even Dre's numbers were down overall and he struggled mightly until he had the brass ones to confront sarge). So the question remains
1. We own his bird rights, assuming we cant get Deron or Rondo, do we resign Ray, even if it is to mentor a draft pick. I do not see Nolan being capable of running the offense, and honestly while a deep draft, not a lot of good PGs in it. And given what has happned this year, he will be cheap
2. Jamal has been the major drain. He is way below average defensively, and is having his worst year ever and this we cant blame on nate as he has not improved a lick. He will not be resign.
3. Props to Caleb for tweaking the offense. Ray and Joel actually have something going with the pick and Roll. Now Joel is not the one to finish, but another big bodied center (Drummond from UConn? or even Zeller) could be a very nice fit
4. Dont hope for Flynn, busts are busts for a reason.
