And I think this "rooting for the team to lose" strategy sucks. I was at the game last night and the positive effects of seeing our team play well will outlast any sense of percentile advantage in this so called "deep draft". Portland's intangible advantage over other teams is it's fan loyalty and fervor. A tanking team corrodes that, even over the long term. I'd like to see us finish strong, no matter what. The pro-tank division of Blazer fans would cringe at the idea of making the playoffs (which I know is unlikely), but that fact is such an accomplishment is not "fool's gold". It would provide us loyal fans with pride and entertainment and bolster team confidence for the coming year. In fact I'd go so far as to say the "fool's gold" is taking pleasure in seeing our team lose. As we all know too well, high draft picks do not directly lead to championships, or even great seasons. The more I think about that Mr. Goliver's stupid "chart" the more chaffed I get. A cynical reader might well ask what's the point of rooting for any sports team that isn't guaranteed a ring after looking at "the chart". And I get that it is somewhat tongue in cheek, but well, it's not that funny. I love Blazersedge and so as a fan of both the site and the team I want to say that this pro-tank tone is pretty weak sauce and I'd like to see it fade.
