We are in rebuild. Very likely, by the time we emerge from this rebuild we will have used up several of LMA's prime years. On the other hand, if we trade him we could get an emerging LMA equivalent. We could get a player who develops at the same arch as the team. Here is a trade that makes sense to me.

In this trade we send LMA and Wesley Matthews to Washington Wizards for Rashard Lewis' mammoth soon to be expiring contract and shelvin mack. Plus we get their 1st round pick of this year, and of 2014 since we can't take their pick in consecutive years.

Why would the Wizards do this trade? For them it creates an immediate improvement going into 2013. They get exactly what they need; a star quality player, who is a veteran and can turn around the culture of their franchise.

We would get a very possible 1st pick of this draft, no worse than 4th. That would give us 3 first round picks in this draft with the possibility of taking the number 1 draft.

Seems like a win-win to me.

We could then turn Rashard Lewis's Expiring contract into a few veterans and we are making a good turn around by 2014 or so.
