After reading Tokito's story about our desire to trade our pick from the Nets for a tried and true "all-star caliber player" I had mixed feelings. Part of me felt like that made sense, but part of me wanted the thrill of discovery through the draft. Thus, I wondered how our draft success stacked up against other teams. According to this analysis we are one of the worst teams in the last 15 years in finding franchise changing talent (or even role players) via the draft. Thus, maybe it isn't such a bad idea to move the pick as part of a larger deal for a talent that is tried and true.
