Jason Fleming: Five Steps to a Brighter Future for the Blazers

http://www.hoopsworld.com/five-steps-to-a-brighter-future-for-the-blazers

It's a decent write up as Fleming does a good enough job covering the Blazers for Hoopsworld, but I wonder if there is anything here that isn't already common sense. Click through to read the story and see what you think.

1) Keep ending contracts for cap space.....duh?

2) Trade pieces that don't fit....really?

3) Keep Nate for now...ok, that's easy enough...

4) No long term money unless it make long term sense....team building 101...

5) Change the Entire Franchise's Mentality....He does realize this is the Blazers, right?

Look, I really like Fleming, but come on. It looks like he went on auto pilot a little bit here. This is basic stuff, isn't it? I realize there are people out there that don't get it, but... Maybe I'm just being cranky. Maybe this season, and especially this trade season have got me on edge. Does Portland need to make a move? I think so, but not just for the sake of making a move. I guess I'm part of the 99.99% of the fans that are frustrated. This is the first year in 4 or 5 years that haven't bough tickets to any games, partially due to scheduling, but more due to inconsistency in the team. I'm not going to waste my money to drive to Portland, fight traffic, and go away from the game feeling ticked off. What fun is that? It's easier for me to be irritated at home yelling at the tv with nobody around giving me the stink eye. At least here I don't have to sell plasma to afford to pay for a beverage.

Is this how Dwight Jaynes feels all the time? Maybe its a sign that I'm getting old...
