Gameday Open Thread: Rockets vs. Blazers
Tonight, the Houston Rockets visit the Rose City to play the Portland Trail Blazers (7:10 tip-off). You know Portland would love to win this game, after losing Monday, and losing a winnable game in Houston a few weeks ago. Can the Blazers shake off the previous game, and win tonight?
Injury Report: Both Marcus Camby (bronchitis) and Raymond Felton (sprained foot) will start, according to the team. The Rockets are healthy. Based on my experiences with bronchitis, I wouldn't be surprised if Camby plays small minutes.

The usual rules apply:
1. No swearing | 2. No pictures | 3. Be Nice!
4. Don't discuss unofficial game streaming, even when the game is on NBA TV.

go blazers!!!1!!!!!1!!!1one
so…can someone tell me:
i just tried to buy the cheapo, back-to-the-concrete tickets for the game against the spurs on the 21st, and it said the tan section was $15 per seat, but then when i tried to buy 2 tix it came out to $101.00.
am i doing it wrong? seating suggestions for cheap?
I don't always root for an NBA franchise, but when I do, I prefer the Portland Trail Blazers.
Go with the "steal of the game"
they give a number every game(I think), for 4 tickets for 50 dollars for upper bowl seats.
"We gotta get this $#!^ together guys!" - Phil
word, i guess i'll wait.
thanks man.

might be sold out and put a different section in your cart?
i know i’ve tried to buy two tan or red section tickets before then gone to my cart and its like $260 because there weren’t 2 seats together in the section i was requesting so it put white section tickets in my cart instead lol
scola would flop the floppiest flop ever and Camby would get a flagrant 2 for it and get ejected, then miss the next game.
Not good, maybe he can wipe his nose with the back of his hand before he gives him a high five.

By flopping bronchitis?
would he immediately hack up a lung right there at center court?

Better bronchitis than Whooping Cough.
I know by experience. And get vaccinated.

Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
We should start Nolan at PG
see what he can do with the starting unit for at least 5 min or so. watching craw play PG makes me wanna gouge my eyes out
Nolan only has to feed LMA in the post or swing the ball, and he plays as good a D as craw
he arguably has more to worry about when he’s manning the offense off the bench. but hey lets stay close minded
Third game in a row on NBA TV.
Hope you guys have fun.

Rested Clips lose to Cavs
Guess we’re not the only team that gets beat by sub .400 teams when we should win. Griffin fouls out on an offensive foul with 6.6 seconds to go
It's a wacky season
Anything goes. Also, the Cavs aren’t as bad as their record sounds. Kyrie is a future star.
Blazers should've signed Jeremy Lin!!!
Damn that guy is good and bargain salary.
by neutroticblazerfan on Feb 8, 2012 6:38 PM PST reply actions
Just watched him play tonight.
Boy, for an undrafted, he sure knows how to run that Pick and Roll. Makes it look so easy. Ugh, why are there so many decent PG’s out there but not playing for Portland?
I'm not too convinced he'll continue this when scouting catches up with him
Bayless was “holy cow!” dominant, then went boom when teams scouted his big games.
We’ll see over the next few weeks/months.
I see your point and was watching for this actually.
The thing is, he’s been making tons of media waves, especially coming out of NY. The Wizards were well aware of the recent hype, but Lin was actually playing smart. Was patient and didn’t try to force anything stupid. IDK, this guy looks promising.
Why cant the Blazers just be healthy?
We get Felton back and now Camby has bronchitis so who knows how many minutes he will play. Dalembert will murder Kurt Thomas down low.

All the officials know what happened.
Hell, some of them probably talk about Foster behind his back.
“How could he have made that call? I couldn’t even make the same in slow-mo instant replay.”
My bet is the Blazers get a few cheap calls in their favor tonight.
I'll be interested to see how the team approaches this game after such a gut-wrenching loss.
Will they be adversely affected or will they take out their frustrations on the Rockets?
It's the Rose Garden, so the latter.
If on the road, definitely the former.

Camby at point running the break.
We might be the weirdest team in the nba.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
/keep Batum/ /trade for Bogut/
For real
After OKC i never wanna see Matthews run a fast break again…
Seriously people, why does anybody believe that Matthews has better handles than Batum?
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
/keep Batum/ /trade for Bogut/
remember when he outran his dribble?
LOL. and he’s a 2 guard
Joakim Noah is surpisingly good for a C/PF running the break
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.

Anyone else feel Lamarcus takes off really early after his midrange shot?
He doesn’t stick a round for the rebound. Surprising since he’s really fast for a big man, he could get back on D pretty easily.

It says this about Foster
“He makes the right call, regardless of the situation.”
"When the love is mutal, the hardest thing is to walk away." -Brandon Roy
Such a skilled offensive player.
No athleticism whatsoever, but still gets the job done. He’s the Andre of power forwards.
It's the same national analysts who say he's a coach of the year candidate every year
It’s partially just NBA myth at this point. Analysts don’t have time to really watch enough games to make judgments, so they often rely on established belief.

I pulled this quote from the profile pics of the referees
I do say, the comment has me quite intrigued….
“Still, the reports on Foster were overwhelmingly positive. “Scott’s very confident out there,” said a head coach. “He makes the right call, regardless of the situation.”
I would venture to surmise that quote is from Thunder Coach Scotty brooks, after last eve’s contest…..
Lazy pass...
Even worse perimeter D. Were packing the paint… Why? Scola? please…
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Indeed.
I suspect that our guards are craven, more apt to play a lively round with the shuttlecock than to pursue rebounds with the requisite vigour.

For all those that get upset when we talk about coaches
This is the perfect game to look at. We have better top end talent then houston, yet they play a better team style game. Its whats lacking with our guys.
i don't think they do
they also have a better balance of talent.
the only reason the teams have the same record is because of nate.
dinasour type of guys choir boys
the rockets don't have better players
yes htey may be deeper, but we have the better overall talent… and in the NBA that is whats supposed to win
What is the over under for the number of games that will pass before Scott Foster Graces the Rose Garden again?

I'm accepting the fact that this Blazers team is just not very good
2007 seems so long ago.

-- M. Rivera
I have to agree... painful to watch at times
especially watching a team like the rockets who lost their big man due to injuries, and mcgrady back when he was still good, yet they rebuilt so fast
They have the same record we have...
Not exactly a complete team.
AK might say they too are fatally flawed.
#7... GO BLAZERS!!!
not a complete team, butr about the same time we lost GO, they lost mcgrady and yao
plust traded away most their other players to rebuild
That only supports the fact that they aren't rebuilt...
…All I was saying is that we are actually in pretty comparable places in our development.
Add in Landry, Dalembert, Martin and Buddiger and they’ve built a decent enough supporting cast… probably a little stronger then ours overall… but are hardly a fully rebuilt team.
#7... GO BLAZERS!!!

I must say, Scott foster appears to have a bit of the made man look to him
It looks like we shall require a blessing to put a hit out on him….
maybe we are tryin to lull them to sleep
and pull a take over 2nd half
by cavejunctionblazer on Feb 8, 2012 7:48 PM PST reply actions
These types of contests only serve to give the inferior team confidence allowing them to win the game on the efforts
of Kyle Lowery to win in it late.
the blazers are the inferior team
only nate’s effort makes them look halfway decent at times.
dinasour type of guys choir boys
Hrm that was verrrry close to offensive interference on replay
But that’s a line the refs usually won’t cross since it was clearly leaving the rim.
