Point Guards
Just wondering, if we believe Ray Felton is not our PGOFT. Who might be available? Assuming the Celtics won't trade Rondo, just as we wouldn't want to trade Aldridge, who might realistically be "gettable"? The list of guys seems unimpressive to me: DJ Augustine, JJ Barea, Dragic, Dev Harris. Barea, like Crawford was a free agent and can't be traded until a specific date. Right now, there are 2 teams that definetly need a 2 guard. The Clips and TWolves. Might we get Ridnour or Eric Murdock for Wesley? (assuming filler for contract puposes). I would like to see Mathews moved, because of our bench Elliot is by far the most intriguing. Perhaps now that Rubio is really playing, Kahn might trade a point guard?? The Clips will probably sign JR Smith, but he is more of a spot player, either he is hot or he is killing you. Mathews for Murdock seems good value. Murdock isn't big enough to play with CP3. They could send salary filler, and we'll send euro rights to even it up. How about Monta Ellis at the point? Dynamic, but not sure he is a guy a team can win with. Seems like a gunner on a bad team type of player. Also, GS would overvalue. Nash?? Would do that, again with WM as the main piece, not Batum. Brandon Jennings? I haven't seen him enough, but seems like another volume shooter type. Thoughts???

Aaron Brooks?
I really really really hope we sign him when he’s done in China. He could help so so so much.

sign and trade
with Phoenix is only chance, but i’m for it. Mathews? Give Brooks about 6m per for 4 years.
Jennings
I have been a huge Jennings fan. He is a volume shooter, decent from three point line and good at driving to the basket. But i think we need a guy that averages more assits and can hit the three point shot when they have too.
not to mention the Bucks aren't going to trade their cornerstone who's on a rookie contract

Felton is top 20ish in the league at TO/Assist ratio. Not great, but when you consider that guys like Calderon, Duhon, Nate Robinson (?), CJ Watson (a career backup) are some of those ahead him he looks like a perfectly average starting PG in the league. His shooting this year has been bad, but historically he is- once again -average.
Considering that the team is more likely to spend on the front line (LA, Wallace, Batum, Camby, Oden, Freeland, etc.) it is reasonable to expect that the team will have to make due with a reasonably priced and therefore average pg.
Not that Felton has to be the guy. Watson’s stats are interesting, Austine looks interesting (but I don’t see Charlotte letting him go-RFA-the team fell apart without him), but really, without giving up too much or paying too much…we will have to learn to live with Felton or a close facsimile
Unless the team wants to really rethink how it spent it’s money and make a splash I don’t really see who is realistically available for reasonable money.
I actually like Felton.
But I would love to see the Blazers with a point guard that loves to pass and is good at it. Like Jeremy Lin, Steph Curry or Nash. Know that’s not probably realistic at the moment. Calderon might be the closest that fits that bill. He moves the ball really well. I think it’s absurd that McMillain keeps giving the bench votes of no confidence before they even get to the floor. Would like to see more of Smith because we don’t know what he’s capable of.
Felton is a strong precense and his quickness and size are difficult for late game pressure to handle. At times he makes some sweet dishes, but I wouldn’t consider him a pass first point guard, which is even more disconcerting since his shot is atrocious this year.
i think all of our best options have been mentioned
I think Dragic, Brooks, and Ridnour would be good options and easy to trade for. Matthews is a lot to give up though, I would think it would require Ridnour and a 1st round pick (although as a T-Wolves fan I would love to see it happen. Dragic should be relatively easy to get, Brooks even easier. The great thing about these guys (as you pointed out) is we don’t even have to give up Felton. Just have felton and whoever else we get play around 25 minutes a game…it’ll help his cupcake body get some rest (and hopefully he will start making three’s!!!!)
I would trade for Nash this year, assuming the cost is Felton + filler
then I would evaluate all options this summer

yup, I think it will come down to this summer.
however, I’d love to make a go for Nash, or try and get Brooks when he comes back from China.
Nonetheless, I think we’ll end up sticking with Ray because there isn’t a great alternative.

Roddy Beaubois
if the Mavs really believe they can land DWill, we should steal Beaubois from them & build around Aldridge/Batum/Beaubois.
