Tokito: Blazers Big Chris Johnson Survived Cut Day

Mike Tokito of The Oregonian reports that Portland Trail Blazers big man Chris Johnson survived contract guarantee day without getting cut. ---------------------------- "I was just smiling from ear-to-ear," Johnson said. "Just excited. It was definitely a goal of mine to stay here, be a part of this." ---------------------------- Johnson was picked up by the Blazers after the trade deadline last season and was signed to a non-guaranteed contract for this season. His contract is now guaranteed. Johnson beat out fellow big man Earl Barron during training camp to claim the team's 15th and final roster spot. Johnson, 26, has appeared in 11 games this season. He's averaging 1.5 points and .6 rebounds in 4.2 minutes per game. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
