New format for rookie/sophomore game
it will no longer be rookies vs. sophomores (great change!)
Basically:
1) Assistant coaches still select 18 players (not sure if it's 9 of each still or not, but I assume yes)
2) Barkley and Shaq have an on-air draft (school-yard style).
3) Fratello/Barkley asst coach their team while Shaq/Kerr asst coach the other team.

So what...rookies and sophmores all mixed up ?
"What began as a credible protest against bank bailouts, crony capitalism and the like has, in large measure, been hijacked by crazies and criminals,"
yeah
i actually like that aspect of it. i had been hoping for east/west split for several years, but think this is even better.

Yeah ...it is sort of a weird game anyway

I like the east/west better than the jumble
then there’s conference continuity and pride, not Shaq/Barkley continuity and pride
"If I had a dime for every basket I made today, you'd still suck!" - from the book 'John Dies @ the End'
East/West would have been interesting too
Though it would have been a problem since it would be hard to coordinate voting, and could bring some inferior players into the game if the conference rookies or sophomores are lopsided (such as during seasons where one conference stunk the previous year).
Should be fun!
We all know how smart Barkley is with his 1st picks… (Allen Iverson #1 overall)
"Brandon Roy has done this before."
I presume this is because this is an all-time crappy bunch of rookies
And also because the only two good ones play the same position.
It's actually following the idea of the NHL ASG.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.

I forsee some hurt feelings in the near future.
Getting picked last hurts no matter what level you’re at.
(not if they get a free car{assuming its better than a Kia})
I JUST WANT MY BASKETBALL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a big fan of the Barkley/Shaq part
Another inevitable TNT marketing opportunity, I guess.
Just have the highest voted player for the rookies, and the highest for the sophomores, be the captains and let them pick. If two people got the same number of votes, highest draft position gets the captain role.
Seriously, do we have to shunt the TNT crew into everything?
well, i don't disagree on that part
but i like the format changes in general. not sure about players picking – seems to open up a whole aspect that the players (and teams, and league) probably don’t want.

Seems to work out ok for the NHL, and they use it in the big game
I actually like the concept of these changes as well, which I realize I didn’t make clear. It’s just the Shaq and Barkley part that made me facepalm. Way to shove a few players into the mix that I actually avoid watching.
Gotta say, I like the old way.
I like the rookies having their shot at the sophomores. And if they win, wanting to defend that the next year. And if they lose, wanting their chance to beat up on rookies the next year.
