Serious Injuries to Danilo Gallinari and Chauncey Billups

Danilo Gallinari badly twisted his ankle during a drive after stepping on the foot of Houston Rockets defender Chandler Parson. An X-Ray revealed a chip fracture of the foot and Gallinari could very well miss the rest of this short season. Chauncey Billups fell to the ground untouched trying to run to a loose ball in the second half of the Lob City Vs. Dwight and Ho's game. He was able to leave the court putting slight pressure on his foot but early reports say that it is very likely he tore his achilles tendon. Too bad for Chauncey who is just an awesome guy first off, great ballplayer second. This is a serious blow to LAC if confirmed.

I hate injuries!

The billups injury doesn’t hurt the clips too much, but it does hurt their flexibility to trade players now and sucks for billups… That might just be it for him…. Hats off to billups.

As for Gallo injury… Man That sucks! We all know how it feels to loose your main man…. At least they have the players to trade for a SF or they might have to try to hang in there until Wilson Chandler gets back from china…. This is gonna be hard for Denver to recover from.

Yea I think if it is in fact a torn achilles it could effectively

end Billups’ career. However I do think Billups was a key part of LAC’s early success this season and they really dont look so intimidating without him. Mo WIlliams is good but he doesn’t scare me like Billups does, although any opposing guard should frighten a blazer fan!

TIME TO STEP YO GAME UP RUDY

Fernandez definetly figures to get playing time with Gallinari’s injury.

Without Billups, the Clippers are stuck with giving Randy Foye increased minutes.

For the Clippers sake, it better hope that K-Mart can help recruit J.R. Smith to join him.

they could be a dangerous team with JR Smith as well.

though not the heady player Billups is, he could probably put up similar production points-wise, and Mo Williams could fill-in in other production areas, with Foye getting more mins as well.

Tough loss for Denver as well as Gallanari is arguably their best player

along with Ty Lawson and Nene. Nene also didn’t play tonight due to a sore heel and Afflalo is dealing with multiple minor aches and also was out tonight.

Gonna be hard for Denver....

To stay in it now…. Specially now that they finally are hitting a rough patch in their schedule.as good as they are… They won’t be able to compete at a high level with the line ups that they will be playing with….

No Mosgov, Nene is beat, AAA isn’t the same and now Gallo. That’s their whole starting Line up.

Utah, Denver and Memphis are all gonna be competing for that last spot in the west.

"Utah, Denver and Memphis are all gonna be competing for that last spot in the west."

Nope, not at all.

Denver will likely be a top-four seed. At worst, it’ll be #5.

At any rate, though, Wilson Chandler will return soon enough.

I don't know about that...

Denver has struggled as of late. They finale finally feeling the impact of the schedule. It doesn’t get any easier for them. And with all the injuries… It doesn’t help as well. I see them sliding now that gallo is out.

Same with Utah. They haven’t really felt the impact of the schedule. Clippers as well.

by Hoi on Feb 7, 2012 1:00 AM PST via mobile up reply actions

Utah will most likely miss the playoffs, yeah.

Denver will be fine, though, even with the injuries.

Why feel so bad for them? Did they feel bad for us when we lost Oden and Roy

to injuries? I seriously doubt it. Denver hasn’t had to deal with losing their star players for a serious amount of time in a while so I don’t feel bad for them, the players themselves sure but not the team.

I thin this is where we feel bad for them as fellow human beings

while doing the math for the 2nd or 3rd seed in the playoffs.

They traded Melo and got better because of it.

I’m not shedding any tears over poor Denver who traded away their all-star and got a better team.

No great spot for him.

he can jack 40 footers up like he loves to do and no one will care! plus i dont want him going to the clips and killing us when we play them!

by jpark on Feb 7, 2012 1:42 AM PST reply actions

The clippers still have Chris Paul.

Now there is just nobody reliable to pass the ball to at the end of games. Not a new situation for cp3. Dude is the best closer in the sport I take him over Wade, Pierce, Melo and Kobe.

by Oden Mad, Oden Smash! on Feb 7, 2012 3:25 AM PST via mobile reply actions

This will hurt the Clips a lot in the playoff seeding race since it makes their bench (already a weakness) even more of a problem. But in the playoffs when CP can play 40+ minutes a night they will still be extremely dangerous.

Losing Gallinari will probably cost Denver 2-3 games over the 3-4 weeks he’s expected to miss, so they should still be in the 2-5 seed range.

i keep dancing on my own.

I will try to sound classy

and say I wish these guys weren’t injured. But on the inside I know that it just means less competition in the western conference for the Blazers.
