defense and rebounding
have to adjust. Also Aldridge was unstoppable. Would have loved to see a few more shots for him.
if we dont resign wallace but resign oden
assuming crawford leaves for money as well
how much cap space do we have, and who can we get?

the reason we give up so many boards is tipping
Yeah its nice when it goes in, but if guys would just go after a board with both hands & secure it, we would have a lot more positive possessions, rather than hoping a random tip of the finger gets the ball in the hoop.
Just got home.
First play I saw was that sweet pass from LMA to Crash which of course he misses.
I’m over Wallace, I just want him gone, trade him for assets be it future or win now assets right after he puts together a string of like 3 good games so his value is slightly higher.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
/keep Batum/ /trade for Bogut/
If the bench steps and scores, plus Aldridge and Camby control the boards win will win this game.
OKC has no bench right now. Batum needs to put up some points.
thats because all of the 50/50 calls have gone to the thunder
a couple blocking fouls, one of which was definitely a charge. and the fact they let durant just lay all over gerald and they won’t call it. You watch, he will end the game with 3 fouls at most.
The refs don't determine our FT percentage.
us rushing/doing awful.
OKC's been called for one more foul than Portland
Problem is, the Blazers keep fouling them in the act of shooting when they’re not in the penalty. Such a killer.
One of those games where it feels like the first few minutes of the third quarter will be especially important.
I remember when we had a third quarter curse
I’d rather have that then this inability to close out every quarter…
PnR defense needs to improve
so we are to rotate and leave rebounders
Mcgee Ran back on defense even though his team got Offensive rebound and offense was setting up up top
situational awareness fail
WITH ODEN ON OUR SIDE
look at what the guy does after he misses the layup. lol

Better coach
Cheeks or McMillan?
by heybabydrinkyourmilk on Feb 6, 2012 8:26 PM PST via mobile reply actions
Hard to be a great coach during that era.
I think Nate is average or just below, and I suspect Cheeks is in a similar range, though he’s hard to say thanks to the players he’s had to work with.
Cheeks would have been one-and-out with the Blazers the past 5 years too, I suspect.
is cheeks a head coach still?
There we go, no one wants him as more than a assistant.
He's currently an assistant. A pretty common move while you watch for future openings.
I don’t know if he’ll get one anytime soon.
Yeah, he's assisting Adelman in Minn.
I also think Porter could have taken this team to the playoffs the past 5 years. Much like Cheeks, he’s partially a victim of his teams (he should have never taken that Phoenix coaching gig). I really can’t rank TP in general though, I didn’t see much of the teams under his watch.
Dunleavy is horrible.
really really horrible.
Adelman is obviously totally dope.
dinasour type of guys choir boys
Nate McMillan.
McMillan is a below average coach, while Mo Cheeks is a bad coach.
If Cheeks was a head coach today, then he’d be in the 21-25 range of head coaches. Think Lionel Hollins, who got overrated this past off-season due to the Grizzlies’ flukey playoff run.

Weirdly the abscence of Felton hasn't hurt Portland much.

Whether it’s not boxing out, pick n roll, running a break, dribbling…
That
Is coaching. For whatever reason this team is never fundamentally sound. They hustle and play hard, but Nate never gets them to play smart.

So this is the difference
Between an elite team, and a good team. We desperately need a legit #2 or we’re going absolutely no where
I think we need a legit 1 more..
crawford is a legit 2, just thrown into something that isn’t his position.
Yep...sigh, what could of been with a healthy Roy and Oden.
No way OKC could hang with us.

Aldridge needs rest.

"Good" can be different for a rookie than a vet.
Look I don’t know if Elliot is the answer, and I’d love it if he is. But usually when someone doesn’t get playing time, it’s not because the coach just doesn’t want to win, or something.
he's got enough talent to at least get 10 min a game
specially watching matthews straight up blow multiple possessions and fast breaks. at least EWill woulda just skyed to the hoop
he’s got enough talent to at least get 10 min a game
That’s a leap I’m not yet comfortable making. I’ve only see him play ok (with some spectacular dunks) against scrubs. Really can’t judge much from that.
I don't see how throwing a young player with some upside
some minutes (not many, but make it a consistent amount), just to see what he can do with it is doing any harm. especially if the guy has a 48" inch leap, can cover the perimeter quickly, has a decent jumper…
Those are physical attributes. There are mental ones too.
And I’m not really sure he can cover the perimeter quickly. Don’t know if I trust his jumper but that’s a separate story.
I've read nothing but good reports comin from our coaching staff about not only his skills
but his quiet confidence and swag. wish i could cite for ya but im lazy. I’m just sayin the kid deserves a second look and just a LITTLE opportunity to flourish
The coaches almost never say negative stuff about rookies in practice
They always want to be encouraging. Practice comments can be taken with a grain of salt. When they think he’s ready, I suspect he’ll get more time. It’s not a bad thing for a rookie to get practice time, and have coaching fix some of their tendencies, before opposing defenses eat them up.

What is about the Rose Garden that the Blazers don't quit as easily?
Is it a guilt complex towards the crowd? On the road it seems at some point they’re already dreaming about their hotel room.

Watching this game reinforces two things I strongly believe.
1. Portland could beat Oklahoma City in a series.
2. I’d take San Antonio in a series versus both teams.
"I Am Mine"
probably not
Duncan would only play 15 minutes a game so Aldridge would have to beat on Splitter instead.

This is why we need a scoring wing/guard a la Broy. You can’t always get it to LMA and he can’t do it all.

GForce Crash Wallace FTW!
maybe batum if he gets better handles or more aggresive, but we need a closer so bad

GForce Crash Wallace FTW!
Okay why in that situation don't we run our normal offense into LA
and let him run the clock in the post… if they don’t double he shots, if htey do we have an open kick out.
Been waiting forever for a clutch fourth quarter from Aldridge.
Now all he has to do is make some pressure FT’s and it’s perfect.
