The 2009 season was particularly disastrous for the Portland Trail Blazers who had many players sidelined with serious injuries. Greg Oden broke his left kneecap after jumping to block a play. The rookie Patrick Mills injured a foot during training right after he was drafted. Nicolas Batum suffered a shoulder injury the previous year, and then re-injured it during the summer. When he started playing again, the cartilage in his shoulder tore and he had to have surgery. Travis Outlaw was lost for the year while recovering from a stress fracture in his foot. Martell Webster had a similar injury the previous year, and he re-broke the foot when he returned to play. Even the head coach, Nate McMillan, ruptured his Achilles' tendon during practice when he stepped in to fill gaps due to the shortage of players.

i was just working on a project for class about sports chiropractic
and i stumbled on this article about sports injuries and thought it was neat to see this little bit about the blazers. no mention of brandon roy or how the team still had a pretty good season. typical.
It needs to be made clear.
2009-2010 was no fun year.
2008-2009 remains the best in recent years.
boo. just boo.

I choose to remember 2009 as a season of perseverance.
The players who DID suit up for us played out of their minds. No way 50 wins should have been a possibility, let alone taking a powerhouse Suns team to 6 games in the playoffs. Andre Miller, Brandon Roy, Batum, Camby when he arrived… These guys and some really good coaching led us to some really inspired basketball. Without injuries reshaping the roster we would have been thought of as a quality playoff team in the West, and that’s how it should have been.
Again, you're describing 2010...
But yeah, I agree. I actually enjoyed that team.
"Brandon Roy has done this before."
Steve Blake was sick for a couple of games too
Then Roy had that meniscus injury at the end of the season which changed everything.
He had the strained hammy for a big stretch before that
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
Rudy Fernandez needed microdiscectomy to relieve back/leg pain.
Played with pain and then missed some weeks.
