Gameday Open Thread: Nuggets vs. Blazers
Update: Raymond Felton went down with a sprained left ankle during the third quarter, and is not expected to return.
The Blazers surged to a 16 point lead in the middle of the second quarter, but Denver fought back to make it a 6 point game by halftime. Hang out here and discuss the second half. -- Tim

Why'd we stop pushing the tempo?
What happened?
at least we aren't down by 20?

Geez, what a horrible second quarter!
And I thought they were the guys on a second of a back to back. Blazers look like the tired one.
i think 3rd on a b2b2b

Bring Batum in and let him go to work.
Porter, Drexler, Kersey, Williams, Duckworth. The greatest starting 5 ever.

Camby's one turnover was bad
Other than that, it’s on the guards, they weren’t even hitting the bigs.
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
no it was the bigs they were tired the only big off the bench was Kurt and he played 4 minutes
17 first half minutes for marcus
19 for Gerald
21 for LA
and we were up by double digits or a longtime
they got sloppy screening and rotating and stop actually stepping out for the ball
by Willie Beamon on Feb 4, 2012 8:12 PM PST up reply actions
We are not watching the same game
The screens are always sloppy. That wasn’t what caused the bad guard play. Jamal and Ray were just dribbling into traffic and passing it back and forth to each other.

Good news, everybody! [/Professor Farnsworth]
Mavs lost to the Cavs, LOL
L*kers are losing bad
Porter, Drexler, Kersey, Williams, Duckworth. The greatest starting 5 ever.
This may as well count as a road game for the Blazers.
Denver is excellent on the road.
Jeremy Lin has amazing night
scores 25. man, why can’t the Blazers brass have any kind of scouting on guys like this who could play for us.

It's one game
Lin’s gonna have games like that, a la Nate Robinson. Doesn’t make him a quality starter, which is what we need in the backcourt.

we don't have any PGs period
maybe we should look at Nate Robinson too then

the brazers brass saw every bad game he's played before tonights and passed on him.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
he's only played in a handful of games
and NY grabbed him and he’s paid off.
we’ve passed on a lot of guys, that doesnt mean that was the right move

Have you ever watched him play?
He’s very slow. His shot isn’t consistent. He’s not very athletic, and his point guard skills are weak.
He had a good game against a team where he surprised. If he played for us you would see his weaknesses more clearly.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
agreed, but the fact is there are guys out there that could help us

atleast, not on a consistent level.

They better not lose at home since that's the only place they'll get a win.
Certainly this team is not going to steal one on the road, regardless of the competition.

How many times do you hear someone say that Aldridge got too many shots and it cost us the game?
Compare that to how frequently you hear the same thing about our guards. This team never buys into the inside to outside style of play. Too many guys trying to replace Brandon Roy in this system rather than play team ball. Portland was moving the ball very well in the first quarter. I don’t know why this team strays away from a offense that makes Denver move. After all, isn’t getting Denver tired in this game a key strategy?
That happens all the time when we lose
We win when we play unselfish team ball, and go through Aldridge.
Its unselfish to go through your best player
It opens up the game for everyone else.
didn't say it was wrong
just reads funny when taken out of context.
LA averages 18 shots per game thats good for 6th in the league . The guy whose killing your theory is not a guard but none other than Gerald wallace

Wallace, Matthews, Felton, or Batum?
Wallace lol and Im surpised hes the first that popped in my head

He attempts more and misses more, but Wes is pretty damned horrid.

I think it's about his agent making all of those statements
I suspect Rudy really likes Portland, even if his experience didn’t go as well as hoped.
It's their right to.
He’s done some very unprofessional things when he was here.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
No. His agent was mouthy but Rudy was very professional when he was here.

by cavejunctionblazer on Feb 4, 2012 8:32 PM PST reply actions
Why does LMA wait so long to make a move? It gives the defense time to send the double. When the double does come LMA also rushes the pass.
probably reading the defense.
but he’s so dangerous when he attacks quickly.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
If he's posting up if he spins to the baseline he can lose the ball because he' drop spins the ball and curls off the defender.
It’s a tough move. But I’m talk about his dribble into the key or his key spin and jumper. He has all these counters nowadays, getting a defensive reaction is huge now.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.

It's really too bad Rudy had to be a crybaby when he was here. He could have waited until Brandon was gone and he
would be getting a ton more playing time. That tells me the players didn’t know about Brandon.

Turning the ball over because you aren't away there is someone behind you. That has happened more times to the Blazers this

Great front line (Camby, LA, Wallace, Batum)

This has happened before, but the opposite…when Oden was healthy (years ago) and Andre Miller and Juwan Howard first got here, they realized that Oden was the mismatch and they passed Oden the ball.
This got the establishment (Roy and co.) really upset

Players are crowding Nic right now and knocking the ball away. He needs to watch some film on what the stars do when
players do that. He has to be able to do more than do 1 dribble past the guy and then stop.
Remember when Steph Curry was bombing 3 pointers on us all night?
Denver feeling that pain from Batum tonight. Also, what a different team the Blazers are at home. So much more looser, relaxed, ball moves better, etc.
Sure, but Nic isn't too shabby of a shooter himself.
He just doesn’t get as many attempts and I always felt his shot mechanics were good enough that he’d start hitting at a good clip again.
Babbitt better warm up
