Gameday Open Thread: Nuggets vs. Blazers
Hey look, it's another game! Tonight, the Denver Nuggets arrive in town to play the Portland Trail Blazers (7:10 tip-off). The Nuggets are on their final night of a back-to-back-to-back, having lost to the Lakers yesterday. Can the Blazers take advantage and beat their rival?
Injury Report: The Oregonian's Joe Freeman says Nicolas Batum (knee contusion) is playing tonight. For the Nuggets, Timofey Mozgov suffered an ankle injury last night, and did not travel with the team.

I want this game so much that I ache.
C’mon, B l a z e r s !!! Fight for this one, guys! This is a pivotal game that’s going to decide if you’re a team that might make it beyond the first round of the playoffs or a middling .500-ish team that just can’t get it done.

Just screwed up a sexy assist by RUbio as well. Wide open layup

Ray Felton will go off for 50 points
and Andre Miller will shoot a 3-pt airball.

I'm a little surprised the team is rushing Batum back so soon...

Nic is the one who's pushing it
It’s also iffy that he’ll get time. Both Freeman and Haynes mentioned he was grimacing during warmups and is favoring the knee.
Shortened season
and gritty player work ethic.

whoa! sorry. my mind flashed back to the last game there for a second.
I just don't know what to make of this team.
The talent is there … but something important is missing.

i dont think so. roy is incredible and irreplacable but i think it's something else
i think we just have poor guard play all around
if we had a good point guard and a consistent shooting guard we'd be #1 in the western conference no question in my mind
which is why i vote that we move batum permanently to the starting shooting guard spot and find a better point guard via trade. not sure who......but it aint felton
I can get behind this ... so long as you find that PG

There really aren't any real PG's on the market
None who are ready to start on a playoff team. The last available good PG (that didn’t demand a trade to a large market team) was probably Collison. That was a deal the Blazers would have loved to be involved in.
When a team has a good PG, they don’t let him get away unless there is no other option.

Calderon
He’s a bad defender, but I think he’s definitely playoff team, starting PG caliber. The problem is his dang contract.
Phase 1: Collect underpants

His contract isn't that bad.
It’s only through next year, too.
I’d strongly consider flipping Felton for Calderon.

Beasley playing like the Jamal Crawford of big men. Just takes long 2s on offense.

I'm sure he can shoot 6/16 like him.

Got the laptop today and got it all set up! The resolution on this one is so much better than the old 3 yr. old laptop
that cost 21/2 times as much as this one.
#52--------I believe in Greg Oden
Do you mean just the automatic updates or are there others I should run?
#52--------I believe in Greg Oden
Yep the automatic updates
Though if it came with Adobe Flash installed, I always recommend updating that from their site.
Cool, then it's current
BTW if you use Chrome as your browser, you never have to install Adobe manually. The browser keeps it updated.
Hmmm. I used both Chrome and Firefox on my other laptop and will probably
do that on this one as well.

It’s nice but they’re still jumpers. Hopefully they’ll use this to keep the lane open.

I'm streaming the game live on my TV, through the air
I just had to attach this thing called an ‘antenna’… imagine that, TV without a cable! What will they think of next!?
Seems like a lot of them do...
There’s no cable in my area, and very poor satellite, so the interwebs is all we hill folk got.

Used to be primarily a spot-up shooter in NY, but his game has expanded quite nicely. Impressed with his game off the dribble.

Lots of tiny fouls by Denver all over the court when they're defending

you can't further injure a bruise
bone contusions just feel incredibly sore later

yes you can.
contusions that get hit again can form calcium deposits.

Yeah Brandon established that
But it really depends on whether the docs think he can reinjure it. If the answer is a very very low likelihood, then it’s up to Nic.
it is a bone bruise, AK
it can’t be reinjured or made worse. It is just sore. You’ve had one right?

Nic was lurking on that LMA shot attempt
Funny to watch him trying to hide while LMA commands a double-team.
I don't care if Nic is missing now, I am glad he is showing confidence. I don't even think those are bad shots, he is
just exhausted. His knee is hurting. I think he deserves some rest.
not bad shots?
goodness. he shot two off centered and barely touched the rim.

I was going to blame Felton but Camby just lost that simple pass. Aldridge should have been ready for that pass.
Felton has mental issue though because this team is really unstable when he is in. The only stable offense Portland runs is through Aldridge, and they ignore LMA after he scores 15 in a quarter.
oh why, oh why, do our guards suck so bad,
oh whyyyyyyy do the suck so bad?

But this was not so for Brandon Roy who listened to teammate Nicolas Batum, "You're an All-Star, a 3-time All-Star. Take the ball. They can't stop you. You just have to believe in yourself."
