Przybilla: This Is Why He Came Back
Feb 26 2011
"I still think there might be a chance I can come back,’’ Przybilla said late Friday night at Portland International Airport, where he prepared to board a flight to Charlotte. "It may be next year, but I think there’s more. I don’t think it’s over just yet. I just have that hunch.’’
"Some people close to me took it hard, but man, I’ve been blessed for seven years here,’’ Przybilla said. "Like Noelle, she took it hard, but I told her, we never saw this happening, where we would establish so many memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. When I signed here seven years ago, I had one foot out of the NBA, and I didn’t expect Portland to be like this.’’
This is why he came back.

For the rest of this year lets all cheer for him for atleast 3 minutes straight
When he subs in and out. It was really great of him to choose portland over miami, the bulls, the clippers, and the bucks. This helps with so much defense in our big man unit. And hes atleast a legit center where thomas is more of a power forward

I always said Joel should be a Blazer for life
I understand getting G W was trade that could not be passed up for any reason, but now that he is back. Joel should finish his career here and Retire as a Blazer.
I remember that. Good prediction
He’ll be taking his physical one year to the day since he said that.
Classy Pro!
Can’t wait to hear the crowd welcome him back at the RG. It will almost be the best moment of the year; of course, that was when Felton got benched.
You can take Joel out of Portland
But you can’t take Portland out of Joel.
Welcome home big man.

Good reason to never get married.
Had Przybilla been single, he might be contending for a title right now in Chicago or Miami.
And would that title really have any meaning behind it?
You think a ring means a lot when he’ll have contributed virtually nothing to get it?
You are the strangest combination of laziness and competitiveness that I have ever come across in a human being.
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
Exactly.
Never get married because you could win an NBA championship. Dot Dot Dot.
Or just don't get married.
Rich or poor, winner or loser; there’s no need to have a spouse. Be your own person, says I.
I got married when I was 48,
my soft landing. At this age, no woman can change me, except for the better when I let her.
If marriage didn't exist, emotions wouldn't suddenly disappear.
Marriage is nothing more than a meaningless contractual obligation between two people. Heck, look no further than the millions upon millions of failed marriages, loveless marriages, et cetera.
That's a cop out.
Plus, that’s more a knock on people (or our culture) than the institution itself. Failed love happens whether there is an official ceremony or not.
I am not who I think I am.
that works for some.
I wouldn’t trade my wife for the world

And you think that would make him happier in his life? Nope

Exactly ... He's not LeBron
Although I do find it ironic he turned down a team that could win the championship this year for his old team when he’s on the same team as LeBron! Makes me respect Pryz even more!
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're not married...
…Joel is a class act who would rather be play in a place he loves, where people love him and his family is happy.
Foreign idea I know but… Admirable.
#7... GO BLAZERS!!!
A lot of people get married for selfish reasons.
On a similar note, there’s nothing more selfish than having a child. The selfless thing to do would be to realize that the world is already overpopulated enough and to step back from reproducing.
Too bad your parents didn't practice what you preach.
I'm typing this here because I became jealous of everyone else with signatures in their posts.
When you really get into it, beyond the obvious selfish reasons of money, fame, citizenship etc, isn’t there an underlying selfishness to everything anyone does anyway? Including marriage.
I love her, I love the way she makes me feel, so I lock that up for life. It just so happens she feels the same way, so it’s a politically correct form of selfishness. Maybe ‘selfishness’ isn’t the correct word, but it certainly doesn’t seem altruistic.
Now I don’t have any problems with marriage, but I also don’t see anything wrong with a person choosing to achieve a goal over getting married.
When I say 'my opinion,' what I mean is 'indisputable fact.'
Yes I remember that well
so I wasn’t surprised by the move. He’s obviously very comfortable in his own skin, knows who he is and has his own set of priorities.
Joel has his priorities straight.
I’ve followed the team closely for 25 years, and he is one of my all-time favorite players. Most of it is hit game — I greatly appreciate his interior intimidation, shot-blocking, toughnesss, screen-setting, and especially his elite rebounding. But he also has always seemed like a good guy, who cares about the team first and doesn’t care too much about personal accolades. These traits are pretty rare, I think. I hope we retain Joel for at least a couple of seasons, and I hope he retires here.
It also didn't hurt that he took the time to learnhow to make his FT
What better blue-collar player can you ask for. Plays to his strengths and diminishes his weaknesses.
Which proves what tool Shaq is ....
…for not learning how to do this
