44-pt Beatdown = Blazers #1 in West?
According to John Hollinger's Power Rankings. The Portland Trailblazers are now the West best team. The huge margin of victory swing from last nights 44-point beatdown has given the Blazers the number one MOV in the West.
Portland now sits number three overall in his power rankings just behind #1 Philadelphia, who jumped ahead of the #2 Chicago Bulls after beating them last night. The top five rounds out with Denver and Miami, respectively.
How much weight do you put into his Power Ranking system?

Absolutely horrible, and if Hollinger really believes that he needs to be fired. Beating the Bobcats is nothing to be
proud of. They look like a college team. Since you have no link to this I’m assuming it isn’t true anyway. Portland is a slightly above average team. We are essentially the Bobcats of a few years ago with LaMarcus Aldridge. Yes, that Bobcats team that made it to the playoffs with Wallace and Felton, but lost just like the Blazers do in the first round.
If Portland ever starts beating teams they should beat, and figuring out a way to close out games against great teams, then they can be in the conversation of best teams.
his power rankings are purely stat driven, it's not based on opinion
I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way.

I was under the impression
that Hollinger has stated in the past that statistically driven power rankings aren’t reliable until at least half the season has been played.

Like any automated ranking system of its type, Hollinger’s rankings aren’t particularly reliable over a short number of games. I also think that in general he puts too much weight on recent games, so a team is likely to be a little overvalued after a huge blowout win. On the whole, they aren’t a bad ranking, but there are more useful statistical rankings elsewhere (e.g. Sagarin rankings, Simple Rating System, etc.)

As much of a homer as I am, this ranking system isn't realistic.

In the last three games we have had two wins by 38+ points, thats gonna skew the numbers. Take a freaking Stats class and you’ll understand whats going on with his rankings, its really not that hard to figure out!

is it a mathematical formula
that ever picks the eventual champion?
I would check myself but I don’t really care and have completely lost interest already….
