LaMarcus Aldridge is the Ish: LMA Appreciation Thread

To be honest, I'm more comfortable being sarcastic than posting a truly inspirational fanpost, but after reading posts like "Why Do We Hate LaMarcus", "What Would You Trade for LMA", & noticing Andre Miller Appreciation Threads, I've decided that it's time to give some much due credit and consideration to my man LaMarcus.

With all the displeasure resulting from the poor play of many of our guys, and the fact that we now constantly rumble as a fanbase about guys no longer on the team, maybe we should show some love to the dude who brings it night-in and night-out?!

Yeah, he just made his first All-Star team.

Yeah, he's the new face of the franchise.

Yeah, he's in the upper-eschelons in PPG and PER this season, amongst other things.

Yeah, he's got a chance to be the best Blazer of all time.

Yeah, he's one sweet mother-lover...

SO I JUST WANT TO SAY, IN THIS CRAZY SEASON, THANKS FOR BEING OUR ROCK LMA...

What’s the difference between Lamarcus and 08-09 David West? I honestly feel like he’s overhyped on this site to be honest. He can’t even shoot the 3.

Don't really see why he would ever shoot the 3. (or how that's an insult to his game)

His game is lacking very few tools right now and he plays his part nearly perfectly (a little unselfish at times IMO). But it is NOT his job to shoot the 3’s on this team and frankly that’s obvious. That shot is designed for our 1-2-3 players.

You want LaMarcus out on the 3-point line instead of fighting for position down low to open up the 3 ball? This isn’t NBA2k12 guy.

David West had the best point guard in the NBA

and LaMarcus has damn near the worst. David West has nowhere near the post arsenal that Aldridge does. Not only that but with CP3, it was hard to double him. Terrible argument, the really sad part is our TEAM isn’t as good as the 09 hornets

Let West guard LMA 1 on 1 in the post and see. Better yet, swap Ray for CP3 straight up and see.

LaMarcus already had a better PER in 08-09 than David West

LaMarcus has a versatile post-up game, can shoot the long range jumper, is an asset on defense rather an a liability, is second in PER and points per game among all Power Forwards, only below statistical freak of nature Kevin Love.
Not many great power forwards shoot the 3-ball, Love and Nowitzki being the main exceptions. Lamarcus is supposed to draw the defense inside, and our wing players are supposed to make threes.

There have been multiple times this year

when watching LMA play where i’ve said aloud “That’s just so mean!”

I remember one instance where LMA was having trouble posting up. He recieved the pass, and the defender played really well, forcing him to pass out to a guard. He then immideately attempted to post up again. Again EXCELLENT defence and LMA was denied the ball. Undeterred LMA set up a pick, recieved the ball from about 20 feet out and easily drained the open jumper. No problem. No drama, just “I make this shot in my sleep”

I just felt so terrible for the other team, it just seemed so unfair.

It was awesome.

was a joy watching Perkins swinging his arms and doing his very best

while getting lit up mercilessly until he got benched. Then Collison gets destroyed because LMA goes left to the baseline instead of right. Then Collison gets destroyed because LMA goes right for the hook instead of left to the baseline.

Then Ibaka gets destroyed. Then a double with Perkins and another player with an AND1 over Ibaka’s outstretched hand.

So much fun to watch Aldridge torture even solid defensive players and team defenses. If the rest of these guys can step up a little we’ll win some games too.
