A Different Idea: Sponsored Fanpost for Blazers Tickets
Hey all. As you may have seen on the front page over the last few weeks a few companies would like to work with us on a sponsorship basis. These are actually pretty infrequent. It's happenstance that three came up within a four week period. You'll notice that we hadn't had a sponsored post for many moons before that. It'll likely be a long time before more come along.
In any case, we're interested in keeping relationships with a limited number of sponsors who have something to offer us and you. In our case, obviously, it's advertising dollars. Those bucks pretty much get sunk back into the Jersey Contest and Blazersedge Night. For years I've paid out of my own pocket for the former and we can always use tickets for the latter. It'd be nice if we could get a couple bucks to help with those things.
On the other hand, I dislike using main page posts for sponsors. Occasionally it's OK, but I don't think it's a sustainable habit. This is especially problematic since a sponsor who's basically SBN-wide, TiqIQ, would like to offer their services on an ongoing basis. We're not going to use the main page that frequently. Then again if we don't have some avenue to promote them we don't have a relationship with them.
That's why we're trying out the sponsored Fanpost/Fanshot idea. We don't want the sidebar to become an extended want ads section so we're going to be draconian and say we're the only ones who can do this. Everybody else needs to follow our posting policy, particularly on tickets. It's been there forever and it works. But I don't think it ruins anything to make posting the occasional sponsored Fanpost or Fanshot part of the privilege we have for putting so much work into the site. If it doesn't get results or has ill effects we'll cease, but this seems like a nice compromise to keep the main page clear and give people a choice whether they want to pursue a small number of offers which benefit the site and its upkeep.
To that end, we want to remind you about TiqIQ as a possible source for tickets. They aggregate other ticket offers to make finding the best price a one-click affair. The URL is http://tickets.blazersedge.com/trail-blazers-tickets

the Sidebar is already a mess,
and the site is already Draconian,
so why not sell out a little bit if it allows more kids to do BlazersEdge Night and whatnot.
I’m completely serious.
As much enjoyment as this site provides for many, many Blazer fans, it runs on money, hard work, and dedication, and if these sponsors can help out a bit, I say squeeze every damn drop out of them that you possibly can.
Also, it would be nice to see the occasional Ticket [Scalping] post removed, as there are dozens of other venues to do that, unless the seller is giving away the tickets to a couple fans. It’s frustrating to come on here and see several Posts back-to-back looking to get rid of tickets to games they don’t want to see
(i.e. they won’t be ‘in town’)

If you notice that
e-mail me. I haven’t seen it happen but then some days I am too busy to check in detail.
And we won’t put many sponsored Fanposts/Shots in either. I don’t want to gum up the sidebar with them. I just want to have an occasional outlet to avoid the main page.

Their site is a nice idea
But it would be a whole lot better if it included blazers.com and the re-sale site.
Advertisements are the key to the future.
They’ll enhance the quality of the site and send more kids to Blazersedge night, so yeah go ahead.
"Brandon Roy has done this before."
COME ON!
I am SO TIRED of having to wade through these occasional and non-intrusive ads to enjoy the completely free game-by-game reporting, commentary and Blazer community.
Look, what are you doing with my hard-earned money that I’m not giving you, if it isn’t to avoid dealing with these scammer? Get it together! This is NOT what I don’t pay to see.
