Trade that helps us out now and the future
I am glad the Blazers won tonight but it still doesn't change the fact that they look like unorganized spastic players as a
team right now. The question on everyone's mind is what's the problem and what can be done to remedy it. Well as
we all do we explore different possibilities, trades etc. Well I think that I've found a winner for now and the future.
Please let me know what you think.

This is an idiotic trade for several reasons.
1) How does this help us in the future? Calderon is 30, and regardless of his statistics (his offensive numbers are better than Felton’s across the board) he is not someone who can be our PG for the next 4-6 years. Felton is only 27, signing him to a 3 or 4 year deal allows us to keep him for his prime and comes with far fewer health risks. As long as Felton’s weight is kept in check, he is the much safer bet for the next 3-4 years.
2) This would KILL the Blazers defensively. Calderon is a worse defensive player than Felton and Wallace is playing at an all-defensive level (again). The top three guards in the rotation with this trade would be Calderon (mediocre defensively), Matthews, and Crawford (the worst defender/rebounder in the NBA). The Blazers are a top-5 defensive team this year, why would we want to completely change their identity?
3) This completely clogs the frontcourt rotation. This trade would give the Blazers 5 big men (LA, the Rhino, Camby, Curt Thomas, and Amir Johnson). It is COMPLETELY indefensible to pay Johnson $5.5 mil to sit on the bench with our cap situation.
You’re giving up a 50 cent piece (Wallace) and a quarter (Felton) for a quarter (Calderon) and a nickel (Johnson). There is no reason to do this trade.

I’m sorry, but GW is not an all-defensive player, or at least he has not been playing like one this year. He does a good job of getting into passing lanes (in some games at least), but he has been burned time and time again when playing 1 on 1 defensive. he is strong, and maybe he just lost a step, but he hasn’t been staying in front of his man and has been getting burned on the dribble-drive a bunch this year. Durant may be the best scorer in the game, but he made GW look like an NBDL player last monday, getting wide open looks time and time again.

I Agree
when Wallace was on Durant he couldn’t stop him and Wallace is suppose to be are best defender, but as soon as Batum started Guarding Durant it was like Durant had never played Basketball before, he was awful.

though Gerald has been somewhat spastic
it’s really been just a bunch of guys underproducing or playing like crap.

I’d take on Calderon if Toronto took on Babbitt and Nolan and other filler.

I prefer this. Gives us a great point guard for at least 2 years (if not more, seeing as how he is still playing really well), a three-point shooting (and PDX-loved) center, and a young guy who can shoot the ball.
Babbitt and E. Will go to Phoenix where they may have an opportunity to flourish and shoot the three. Gerald would go there, play a few years in the sun and retire. Raymond will do something there…I don’t know what, really.
Fantasy. Yes, I know Nash is old, but honestly, he will still be better in three years than any one we currently have will be. Plus, he makes EVERY other player better. Watch Batum and Nash work together. Wow.

You are so great at dishing out criticism without offering your own solutions. Must be easy to be a complainer.

I will give you a solution
do not downgrade the roster based on your 2k12 experiences

How about we just play that kid Smith
What do we have to lose this season it isn’t looking too good, why not develop smith with the rest of the season how could he not get better and how much worse could he play then felton right now? Put a fire under felton’s rear since he will be coming off the bench… Jamal at the point isn’t the option…. My other question is why isn’t Williams playing more minutes if Mathews is in a slump… you hurt these guys ego’s they start working harder to get back to there starting positions….
