Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs Hornets
The Blazers seem to be enjoying Mardi Gras a bit early, not bothering to show up for the first half against an undermanned New Orleans Hornets squad. Hang out here to see the inevitable Blazers comeback. -- Tim

Lets go 'zers...
But this was not so for Brandon Roy who listened to teammate Nicolas Batum, "You're an All-Star, a 3-time All-Star. Take the ball. They can't stop you. You just have to believe in yourself."

He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

Yeah, I bet Chad Buchanan is chewing his nails right now...
…waiting to pull the trigger on the Steve Nash trade until he sees the results of the Hornets game.

Youth -- not seniors
If they’re below .500 at the trade deadline, it’ll be expiring contracts for draft picks and write off this season.
im all for a trade
if it’s for the right person. tbh, i hope we don’t make one just to get better this season. there’s not one available player out there than can make us a contender, so there’s no real point to making a move unless it’s for the future
PHILLY!
I feel kinda traitorish. Not watching much of the Blazers tonight.
Been following Jeremy Lin on Knicks tonight instead. He’s looking more and more legit.
Yeah, I know. It's a great story.
Thing is, I live out in NY and never really cared for the Knicks, but it’s fascinating to watch this unfold. Hope for the best for him.
why can't the blazers find one of those diamonds in the rough????
Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.
Every team in the league passed on him twice.

They're also playing bad teams and a very tired Laker team (off an OT game last night)
Kind of curious if this subsides as teams scout him and they play real defenses.
Elliot Williams in waiting . . .
when he finds his 3 point shot
Caps a solid half with some political correctness.
During halftime interview, says, “Basketball is a five-man…five-person sport.” Funny stuff.
Lin is an awesome story
Guy is tearing the Lakers up right now. Says he’s going to look at tape during the half
First play of the half should be this. Aldridge gets ball in the post. Wait for the guard to come down and double.
Pass out to Felton or Batum. 3 pointer. Do this until they stop doubling LMA. Profit.
Who will SUCCESSFULLY shoot the 3 pointer?
Did you utter “Luke”?
WTH?
I just got home, and I am in disbelief that not only is it a game, we are down? Against the Hornets? Minus Jarret Jack? Wow.
Kaman's out too.

but apparently they don’t need those guys to REBOUND

Playing down to the level of the competition
I’m guessing it will be a big third after Nate (master motivator) gets through with them in the locker room.
OMG! is anyone watching this TNT halftime show? Shaq in pink skintight satin undies! Uuuuuugly.

I think I have it figured out
We are so bad at running a fast break that we won’t risk getting a defensive rebound and getting laughed at
Pretty weak D and sluggish ball persuit.
These guys look defeated right now. It’s pathetic. Nut up and crush ‘Nola and salvage this season or we’ll…we’ll…we’ll complain even more than if you started winning more and made a playoff push. So, yeah.
Come on, let's all hug it out.

Maybe we can suck enough to move up in the draft to get Jared Sullinger.
Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.
You still trust this team in the Draft?
I’ll take Free Agency where they got Camby for rags, Wallace for a song and a dance, and Matthews for a toxic offer (shaken, not stirred).

Why has LMA only played 9 minutes?
I’m at work and can’t really watch the game, just checked the box score and see that he’s only played 9 minutes. What gives?

3 on 2 fast break will at some point in this season actually be our friend
The tensions are so high because the stakes are so low!
Wow. I didn't even notice any Blazer defensive rebounds in the first half.
#52--------I believe in Greg Oden
Another fine Blazer fast break
I do believe that explains thelack of defensive rebounding
If Ray Felton is the answer
Lets get another question
what is the deal with the blazers not being able to finish fast breaks?
i can’t remember seeing a team with numbers fail to convert so many opportunites.
Yeah for as often as we hear "The Blazers don't have enough talent"
Whcih is true in terms of championship caliber, this NO team is the definition of not having enough talent.
And they’re winning by 7.
uhhhh........
it’s just bad all-around. if we could rebound we’d be fine
Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.

why is our D so spread out...NOLA has hit 1 3pter.
we should be the ones packing it in and daring them to shoot over the top.

When our guy goes to the rim, he gets blocked. When a scrub goes to the rim with Batum and LMA going for the block

This is terrible basketball though. Crawford having to carry us on jumpers off the dribble. That's not sustainable.
I hate that offensive foul call.
You literally stop as he’s about to jump. So tough to call that offensive.
An he didn't even come close to hitting him straight on, he just kinda brushed his side

Remember when Sergio used to over dribble. Felton some how does the same thing without dribbling. He just holds the ball

I'm just pissed that none of his good play in Europe made it over.
I guess he had to check it at customs.
Yeah, I know it’s a different game over there, but he seems to be playing without confidence.
he shows glimpses
I think he needs a bigger role here… Like, the #2 role officially.
LAL mounting a comeback.
Finally remembering they should beat a Knicks team without Amare and Carmelo.
not the only thing he mounted
after being named an allstar.
Hence his slow start tonight.
Just started watching...
no blowout and no big time minutes for reserves.
I hope we all know what the problem is here…
If they lose this, the season will have reached a new low.
They SHOULD tighten the defense and win this.
I'm willing to bet no
they will hit a three we will have a shotchlock violation and hornet get an offensive put-back for the win.
We are good enough to play a 4 - 22 team to a virtual stand still
Without 3 of their beat players
and beat teams at the top of the standings..
what gives?
Gustavo Ayon and Lance Thomas

Nah I think he's legit
Remind me of Nash a little the way he dribbles in thee paint and uses his body. Not as good of shooter or left hand obviosuly, but kid’s legit IMO. Dribbles very low to ground makes him deceptively quick

he does that a lot

I don't care what anyone says. Lin will cool off, he will get scouted, and he will come back down the earth.
I’m glad that Carmelo is being exposed though. This guy scores 30 Knicks lose. Melo doesn’t play and put in a d leaguer and they win.
He'll cool off

Damn this Jeremy Lin is a player
NBA starter for sure
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
Dear Crawford/Felton,
Thank you for winning us this game.
Here we go, Rice talking about this is what Crawford needs do every night. The reason we're even seeing this
is because the team he is doing this on has 4 wins. It took one of the worst teams in the NBA doubling Aldridge all night to get this night out of the guards.
Crawfords shooting 45% from two and 44% from the three teh last ten games teh reason we are seeing it is th team actually realized he was doing it and started actually passing him the ball in rhythm instead of having him do a ton of dribbling to get them

As tough as it was to watch this game played
played right to the averages. Mid 80s for them low 90s (on the road) for us.
Wins a win I guess
but that was gross
