First of all, lets be clear... this isnt "top 5 PGs", its "top 5 young PGs" so CP3, Deron Williams, Tony Parker and others that have been in the league for a while do not qualify. With that being said, is Damian not one of the top 5 young PG talents ?
Here are some of the names that were thrown out there instead of Lillard:
Derrick Rose - Kyrie Irving - Russell Westbrook - Stephen Curry -Ricky Rubio - Eric Bledsoe - Ty Lawson
I can understand if they wanna say that Lillard still a rookie, its too early for him to he named into that list... but what about Irving ? He hasnt played 82 games yet but he's already anointed as the best young PG above Rose ? Sure he's talented, but lets see him lead his team to the playoffs like Rose did first.
And Bledsoe ?? are you kidding me ?? the guy has yet to average above 20 minutes a game in the 3 seasons he's played so far, how can you have him in any top 5 when he's not a starter and hasnt averaged more than 9 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 2.5 apg ?
Rubio's numbers through 41 games last season were around 10 pgg and 8 apg.. i wouldnt even pick him above Brandon Jennings yet.
And dont get me started on Ty Lawson... he's in his 4th season, is 25 years old and hasnt shown he belongs with the Rose-Westbrook echelon to justify being a top 5 young PG.
I say Damian is already in that top 5 list.. he's better than Rubio, Bledsoe or Lawson, I'd take him any day over those three.
