Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard suffered a head contusion during the first half of a Thursday night preseason game against the Utah Jazz and will not return.

Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard suffered a head contusion early in the second quarter of a Thursday night preseason game against the Utah Jazz. He will not return.

Leonard departed with 0 points and one rebounds in five minutes of action.

A contusion is more commonly referred to as a bruise.

Joe Freeman of The Oregonian offered the following on Twitter from the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City.

Meyers Leonard just took a hard tumble underneath the Jazz basket and is slow to get up. Trainer Jay Jensen is evaluating him now. Looks like Leonard landed hard on his head.

He has walked off court under own power and will head directly to Blazers locker room.
