Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Suns (Second Half)

After an absolutely awful first half, the Phoenix Suns lead the Portland Trail Blazers by 15. Hang out here and discuss the second half of what will hopefully be a good game.

The usual rules apply. Please don't forget that the "no swearing" rule includes abbreviations. Thanks.

Thid is total bs

EVERYTIME WE PLAY THE SUNS suns players are holding players, getting away with fouls, flops, 23 in the key and every game the refs allow it. I hate the suns with a passion now

With that FG percentage I doubt it matters all that much. Worst half of Blazers basketball. Period.

All we need to do in the 2nd half

Is score 30 a quarter to get back around average. We can do it against the pathetic defense, the shots gotta start falling just like the Lakers shots started missing after their hot first quarter.

by Cjones10 on Jan 6, 2012 8:48 PM PST reply actions

Second half keys:

Tighten up on defense, they are killing us with their movement. The fast break simply does not work if you don’t start it with great defense.

Pick your shots (Crawford), stop forcing the ball. We are doing the opposite of “making the extra pass” almost every time down the floor. The fast break isn’t working for aforementioned reasons, and we are sputtering as a result.

Things happen for a reason they say, but I say there's a reason things happen.

we aren’t the Spurs. LMA isn’t a 35 year old tim duncan with 4 championship rings at the tail end of his career. we have to try to win games for multiple reasons. unlike the Spurs, we aren’t just gonna turn it on in the playoffs after half-assing our way into the playoffs

It’s just that everyone across the board is playing the exact same way. Normally someone, anyone should be having a decent game. Not excusing them, but to the eye, they just look a step slow and I’m guessing it’s fatigue. Ofcourse, it’s up to them to hurdle that. As long as they don’t do this in the playoffs I’m fine with it.

Well

There’s no way to put lipstick on this pig. I expect Dave’s write up to be scathing in scope. And it should be. This was a terrible performance, 3 games in 4 night not withstanding.

Jamaal Crawford

For worst sixth man in the nba

by wackybrak on Jan 6, 2012 9:49 PM PST reply actions

This is what I see in crawford:

A volume shooter averaging less than 35% from the field, a reluctant passer playing back up point that rarely creates for other teammates and a lazy defender that becomes EVEN lazier when his shot isn’t falling.

Notto mention the turnovers. For all the talk of improved team play and unselfishness jamaal Crawford seems almost like the antithesis of those ideas

Blazers really need to work on starting better.

I hope the mainstream media forgets about us.

The team will put the loss behind them, and we’ll probably be better off if we’re out of the spotlight.

GO BLAZERS! (furiously waving towel in the air and yelling drunkenly)

GO BLAZERS! (as nearby fans start looking at me with pity and disgust)

This is my signature. Do you like it?

I blame Nate.

Everyone knows this is going to be a let down game after the lakers, but a good coach knows how to motivate his team even on nights like tonight. Anyone can let a team run and gun at home against big time opponents, but getting the best out of your team when they are tired and facing weak competition is what makes an average coach great. Nate isn’t a great coach he is average and that is why we always loose these type of games.

I wonder if a day at the spa

Would be better than a practice…unless Nate and Buck want to maybe attempt to teach pick and roll defense and screen setting finally
