Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Suns (Second Half)
After an absolutely awful first half, the Phoenix Suns lead the Portland Trail Blazers by 15. Hang out here and discuss the second half of what will hopefully be a good game.
The usual rules apply. Please don't forget that the "no swearing" rule includes abbreviations. Thanks.

Thid is total bs
EVERYTIME WE PLAY THE SUNS suns players are holding players, getting away with fouls, flops, 23 in the key and every game the refs allow it. I hate the suns with a passion now

All we need to do in the 2nd half
Is score 30 a quarter to get back around average. We can do it against the pathetic defense, the shots gotta start falling just like the Lakers shots started missing after their hot first quarter.
Second half keys:
Tighten up on defense, they are killing us with their movement. The fast break simply does not work if you don’t start it with great defense.
Pick your shots (Crawford), stop forcing the ball. We are doing the opposite of “making the extra pass” almost every time down the floor. The fast break isn’t working for aforementioned reasons, and we are sputtering as a result.
Things happen for a reason they say, but I say there's a reason things happen.
Also: try to pretend it's not the 3rd game in 4 days :/
Things happen for a reason they say, but I say there's a reason things happen.
Did he just say that, or did he say that at half? The Lakers lost to the Bobcats and even we beat them the years the won.
put elliot williams in for crawford
at least for some minutes… can’t hurt craw is cray cold right now
I'm going to have a Porterhouse steak with a Beurre Rouge sauce to assuage my

Minus the win against OKC that came out the end of there 7 in 10 and the end of their back-to-back in which they also had to travel back home to host a Portland team that beat them there since POR had an off day.
The blazers are consistently playing at the level of their opponent
Save the Sacto game that they managed to win handily, all the others have been fairly steady. Tonight though, they’re playing like the suns, not keyring the suns play like them.

Suns getting great us eout of 40 year olds because of their Training Staff...
it’s not rocket science.
Oh yeah OKC doesnt get injured too much. They have a Phoenix Suns like staff.
I honestly think training staffs are starting to get highly overrated because they're having some good luck.
I mean, the Suns doctors recommend Power Balance bracelets, for crying out loud.
Read Pain Free by Pete Egoscue...better yet read the first 3 chapters...
Then you’ll be able to see with your own eyes the differences in players like Oden and the physical symmetry Phoenix players have in their bodies.

Definitely
Nash is still running the “get LMA to switch on a screen and go to work trick” from the playoffs.
Foot on the line on that dunk?
Does anybody know how to make this sb nation Android app post a new thread comment?
by ZenGarden on Jan 6, 2012 9:36 PM PST via Android app up reply actions
i disagree
we aren’t the Spurs. LMA isn’t a 35 year old tim duncan with 4 championship rings at the tail end of his career. we have to try to win games for multiple reasons. unlike the Spurs, we aren’t just gonna turn it on in the playoffs after half-assing our way into the playoffs
But Nate will ride LMA 40+ minutes every game
He’s specifically said that he gets tired late in the season. It will be even worse this year.
he played 33 last night in a win against the lakers
and he’s on the bench with only 30 minutes played tonight. i’m not denying he was worn out last season but i think that had more to do as much with our roster as it did with nate.
No worries...
B-Roy will come off the bench in the fourth, score 18 straight points, and save the Blazers’ bacon once again.
then a kick ball..

Kurt Thomas is a borderline Bush league player
Good to have him on your side
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
There is no point. The Suns will be in the middle of the pack the whole year, they won't make the playoffs. Steve Nash will get
another year older. Dudley will look a little worse than he already is when Nash leaves. The guy won’t have a memorable career. I’ve probably written more words in this post about him than he is worth.
What are they gonna do when its back to back to backs?
Just not show up?
other teams having trouble too
got to work into shape for it I guess
Totally Agree
He should have made a statement to the starters a long time ago by throwing in the bench in the first
by Rip City Native on Jan 6, 2012 9:33 PM PST up reply actions
My point is they are trying. It's just that they can't physically match Phoenix's energy.
Look at all those easy chippies Aldridge is missing.
I think it's connected actually. I'm just speculating of course.
It’s just that everyone across the board is playing the exact same way. Normally someone, anyone should be having a decent game. Not excusing them, but to the eye, they just look a step slow and I’m guessing it’s fatigue. Ofcourse, it’s up to them to hurdle that. As long as they don’t do this in the playoffs I’m fine with it.
Good teams don't lose this bad to bad teams
The blazers keep saying they see themselves in the top tier, top tier teams don’t play like this.
"Rudy is not everyday a shooter," Fernandez said. "He's defense. He's passes. He's assists."
So why is Portland so tired?
Denver came back to beat NO on the road and they’ve already had a back-to-back to back affair. there’s no excuse for this
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
We're only 7 games into the season.
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB
Yeah, but its not even close
There’s a difference between putting up a good fight then falling short and straight up stinking up the joint against a bad non-playoff team.
Henne is the greatest and the Dolphins will go 14-2 this year and win the SB

Jamaal Crawford
For worst sixth man in the nba
This is what I see in crawford:
A volume shooter averaging less than 35% from the field, a reluctant passer playing back up point that rarely creates for other teammates and a lazy defender that becomes EVEN lazier when his shot isn’t falling.
Notto mention the turnovers. For all the talk of improved team play and unselfishness jamaal Crawford seems almost like the antithesis of those ideas

Everyone knows this is going to be a let down game after the lakers, but a good coach knows how to motivate his team even on nights like tonight. Anyone can let a team run and gun at home against big time opponents, but getting the best out of your team when they are tired and facing weak competition is what makes an average coach great. Nate isn’t a great coach he is average and that is why we always loose these type of games.
